Oh, The Walking Dead. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? You know my tenure at IndieGala allows me to write about a lot of zombie survival horror video games. And plenty of survival horror movies I might add. From The low-budget Rezort to the all-time classic Resident Evil. Check it out here. I love them all, and I love writing about them too. So, I have no shortage of zombies to write about. Ever. However, the TV portion of the zombie survival is practically non-existent. At least for the time being. And at least for me, since my focus so far was on the movies. But I feel that it’s all about to change since I have new zombies to write about.

Indeed, the long-running TV show is headed to the end (finally), but other projects from the WD franchise will emerge. Soon.

A Look Beyond The Walking Dead

Sure the original TV series is ending. But the new spin-offs, additional series and solo movies are about to see the light of the day. First and foremost, there’s the long-anticipated Rick Grimes movie. Secondly, there’s the announced Daryl and Carol spin-off series that will eventually air in 2023. But after the end of the original The WD series. However, I’m going to focus on one other project. And a rather different project, but still tied with the WD Universe. Tales Of The Walking Dead.

More on that later. For now, let’s focus on the video game series that brought me to Tales Of The Walking Dead.

What Are The Walking Dead Video Games All About?

Developed by Telltale Games and now currently published by Skybound Game Studios Inc, the Walking Dead games are fantastic adventures. And perfect for any fan of not just the original comic book. But the TV series as well.
And yes, we have plenty of Walking Games video games on sale here at IndieGala. Not just the original The Walking Dead seasons featuring Clementine. There’s also The Walking Dead: 400 Days, and The Walking Dead: Michonne. Just click here, take your pick and enjoy. There’s plenty to choose from, and a lot to enjoy in our selection.

But the acclaimed video game franchise is a five-part game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. In the original game that started it all you get to play as Lee Everett. A convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. With corpses returning to life and survivors stopping at nothing to maintain their own safety… Protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may offer him redemption in a world gone to hell.

It’s a fun game and it’s worth indulging in it and you might also meet characters from the tv series as well. So, what are you waiting for?

But What About Tales Of The Walking Dead?

Well first things of all, The Tales Of The Walking Dead will be a spin-off series and an anthology series at the same time. It’s a show from the same WD universe that will feature characters from the cult zombie filled series. However, the show will be something of a departure from the regular style employed by the three shows in TV zombie universe. And according to some reports, the new show will stay clear from the standard survivors VS walkers story-lines. But not everything will be new. Some of the old characters are set to return for the spin-off although it’s unclear who. Some speculate that Negan will be the main character, but time will tell on that.

A Brand New Spin-Off Series

Indeed. Tales of the Walking Dead is the latest of the confirmed spinoff series for The cult zombie franchise. The Walking Dead: World Beyond premiered in 2020, while the Daryl/Carol spin-off series will see the light of the day in 2023. But according to the AMC press release, the anthology series will have “new and existing characters, backstories, and stand-alone experiences”. All within the world of The Walking Dead.

But the WD alumni, Scott Gimple will oversee the production and development of the spin-off series. And according to him, one episode can possibly feature the full plane crash sequence from World Beyond’s pilot episode, “Brave”. Which is nice. Oh, and Maddison Clark is probably going to appear in one episode of Tales Of The Walking Dead too.

No Sign Of The Cast And Crew

As it’s too early in the development of the anthology series, there’s still no word on the cast and crew of the new series. Nor do we know how many episodes one season will contain. But from what we do know is that each episode will follow one specific character’s survival. And in an episodic, anthology type of format. We still don’t know the premiere date of the series, although it will definitely air on the AMC network. Much like the rest of the Walking Dead Series.
But there’s also talk that the series could even return to some of the deceased characters on the show and explore their backstories. Or cover their lives before they entered The Walking Dead.

As soon as we have new info, we’ll make sure to share it with you.
