Time Traveler Day

Let’s celebrate Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day today. Indeed. December 8th marks one very unusual and very interesting day. A Day which is annually observed to enjoy the long-time fiction of Time traveling as if it has become reality!

But it’s not our first attempt to honor special days. Star Wars Day holds a special place in our hearts every year. Check out the article here. Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day Fun Fact: Did You Know This?

Well, one of the most popular paradoxes associated with time travel is the Grandfather Paradox? According to this paradox, if a person goes back in time to kill her/her grandfather before he has biological children and succeeds… Then one of the person’s parents would never be born, and therefore, the person in question would not exist. Therefore, that the person could not go back in time to kill his or her grandfather. Which would mean that the person’s grandfather would have biological children. And the person would exist today. Cool right? We thought so too.

And What About The Movies For Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day?

We have 5 additional picks from the movie selection of the article. Much like the games, the movie picks also have time-travel in the plot and yes. They’re all amazing. Let’s start with this section as well.

Primer

Primer is a science fiction film that deals with the accidental discovery of time travel. And it’s a great movie too. It’s cerebral, twisted and downright confusing at times, but it’s amazing too. But the movie also deals with the invention of four separate engineers. An invention that they would later find out that it’s the actual time machine. So, the questions will begin to pile up after that discovery. Plenty of logistical and philosophical roadblocks as well.

Fun fact: The budget for the entire film was around $7000. Most of the money was spent on film stock.

12 Monkeys

A true 90’s classic don’t you think? Terry Gilliam’s science fiction film is also the oldest movie on this list, but it’s probably one of the best.  It also has some of the finest performances from Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, but yeah. It does involve time travel too. In a future world devastated by disease, a convict is sent back in time. Why? Well to gather information about the man-made virus that wiped out most of the human population on the planet. What he’ll find out is a totally different story.

Fun fact: Terry Gilliam gave Bruce Willis a list of “Willis acting clichés” not to be used during the film. Including the “steely blue eyes look”.

About Time

Who says that science fiction and rom-com can’t mix and create something great? With Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams, and Bill Nighy in the leads, About Time is exactly about that. It’s about a young man with the ability to time travel who tries to change his past. In hopes of improving his future. But, his decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think. About Time is a touching, sentimental and at times and optimistic tale of one man’s plans for the future. It deserves your attention.

Fun fact: In South Korea, more than 3 million people watched the movie, which made it a surprise hit there.

Safety Not Guaranteed

Another science fiction/romantic comedy but from the indie specter of Hollywood. And the movie is about three magazine employees. They’ll head out on an assignment to interview a guy who placed a classified advertisement seeking a companion for time travel. Is he crazy? Or can he really make a time machine? That’s what they’re trying to find out. Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass and Jake Johnson star in this Colin Trevorrow-directed movie. And yes. It deserves to be on this list as well.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Let’s finish this list with a superhero movie? Sounds good to us. Hence, X-Men: Days of Future Past and the decision to put this movie in this article. For me, it’s arguably one of the top 5 movies from the MCU and yes. It involves time travel too. The movie focuses on two time periods. One is from the future while the second one is from the past. Logan travels back in time to 1973 to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. It’s a fantastic movie and it deserves your attention.

But Which Movies And Games Would You Add Here? To Honor Time Traveler Day?

Would you add Time Machine? How about Back To The Future trilogy? Let us know in the comment section.
