Spider-Man Multiverse

That’s right. The Spider-Man Multiverse is our main obsession right now. And since the fantastic trailers for the Spider-Man: No Way Home are already out, we figured it’s nice to take a closer look at one of our favorite MCU characters. The one and only Peter Parker.

But it’s not like we haven’t touched on the MCU before. Oh no. Just this year we paid our respect to some of the finest characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And their solo projects as well. For instance, we already did a review of the Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (visit it here). And of course, we had a similar review for the Black Widow. Check it out here. Now we liked the former solo project more than the latter, but hey. You be the judge here. And who can forget about Loki? The original bad boy of MCU? Well, we honored him as well, with not one, but two separate articles. However, it’s time for another cool character. It’s time for… Peter Parker.

Spider-Man Multiverse

Spider-Man And The Spider-Man Multiverse

More specifically about the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home movie which is coming up in theaters on December 17th. Now several interesting trailers are worth discussing, but frankly so is the movie itself. We all know that Tom Holland is set to return for a bund of new Spider-Man movies but for now let’s focus on the one that’s just weeks away from its premiere. However, I can’t simply go on with this article without the mention of some of our finest games and sale.

The Spider-Man Multiverse And Some Cool Games

Oh yes indeed. The two things are closely connected in this case, but that’s mostly because we do have the always fun and awesome Marvel VS Capcom series. And as luck would have It, it’s currently on sale. Just click here and pick the best game from the series for you. But speaking of sales, our Black Friday Scratchy Sale has just recently ended here at IndieGala. Be on the lookout since the holiday season is nigh and it will most likely ring some surprises.

And speaking of… Our Capcom sale which has more Marvel titles will soon return. You can find all of your favorite Capcom entries here. Just click, scroll and pick the best one for you. Resident Evil: Village? Check. How about Mega Man? Double Check.

But now. Let’s get back to the topic at hand. The Spider-Man Multiverse. More specifically the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie.

Spider-Man Multiverse

The Spider-Man Multiverse VS Spider-Man: No Way Home

Oh boy. In this particular movie, they’re intertwined more than ever. Why? Well for starts because we’re going to be seeing plenty of well-known faces from the MCU. We all know that Doctor Strange is going to be a key character in the movie. But so are the villains from the previous installments. That’s right all of them are having a much welcomed come-back in No Way Home. And judging from the last trailer, you can see all of them in this movie.

Marvel is not keeping any of them a secret that’s for sure. Jamie Foxx is back as Max Dillon / Electro. Next, Alfred Molina is also back as Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus. Furthermore, we’ll get to see Willem Defoe as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin, Thomas Haden Church as Flint Marko / Sandman. And of course Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors / Lizard. All villains from the previous Spider-Man Installments and beloved characters as well.

More Spidey’s To Double The Fun!

And although it’s not entirely confirmed by the studio (or Kevin Feige) the previous Spider-Man’s shall return in No Way Home.  There are allegedly leaked photos from the set which confirm this fact, but also you can get a subtle hint from the last trailer as well. When Dr. Octavius says: You’re not Peter Parker you just know that we’re able to see the Peter Parker he knows best. Tobey Maguire of course.

Benedict Cumberbatch Ok GIF by Spider-Man

But from the potentially leaked photo, you can clearly see that the return of Andrew Garfield is also imminent. Tobey and Andrew appearing in No Way Home is the movie’s biggest spoiler, and everyone knows about it. Despite the constant denial from Sony and Marvel. But I understand why their come-back is such a big deal. The plot of the movie finally allowed them to unite in one project together. But yeah. Marvel doesn’t want any Spidey-related spoilers until the premiere of the movie. Allegedly.

And did you noticed something else? If you’ve seen the Brazilian trailer for the movie then you’ve probably seen the extended scene which hints the possibility of more Spider-Mans appearing in the movie. The fans on Twitter are suggesting that Marvel edited Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield out of the shot where Lizard gets punched by seemingly no one. Tobey and Andrew were originally in the shot? You be the judge.

However this is not the first time that Marvel has been misleading us when it comes to the trailers. Remember the presence of the Hulkbuster in Avengers: Age Of Ultron? The trailer suggested at solely Hulk being there, but it was in fact the Hulkbuster in the mix as well.

The Multiverse Does Have Some Cool Secrets And Cool Facts

Did you know that Tom Holland began filming the movie just two days after finishing his movie Uncharted (2022)? However, this film will be released before the latter?

And when it comes to the trailer… Did you know that the first trailer has become the most-watched trailer? Yes, it received 355.5M global views in its first 24 hours, surpassing the previous record-holder Avengers: Endgame, which drove 289M views.

But No Way Home is not the first movie that explores the Spider-Man Multiverse. If you recall, back in 2018 the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse did exactly that. It explored different versions of Peter Parker in different time-lines and even drawing techniques. The movie was a huge success and it most likely inspired the Spider-Man No Way Home.

Speaking off…

After Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man was exposed by Mysterio at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), his life and reputation are turned upside down. So, Parker will ask Dr. Stephen Strange to help restore his secret identity with magic. But this request will break open the multiverse and everything that comes along with it. Thus, allowing supervillains from alternate realities who previously fought versions of Spider-Man to arrive. Other Peter Parkers are included in the multiverse too apparently.

However, we still don’t know about the screen-time that any of the previous Spider-Man’s will have in this movie. Whether they’ll have small cameo roles or they’ll have much bigger screen-time. We’ll just have to wait until December 17h.

But Which Spidey Is Your Favorite?

Everyone has a favorite, and dare I say… The least favorite Spider-Man. The original Spider-Man is of course Tobey Maguire. He started the movie franchise back in 2002 with the help of the great Sam Raimi. This was the first film to reach $100 million in a single weekend as well as the most successful film based on a comic book at the time. But two years later Raimi delivered Spider-Man 2 which still stands as one of the best movies in the franchise. Indeed. The movie got universal praise and yes. It’s also my favorite of all the Spider-Man movies.

But a decade after Tobey put on the Spider-Man costume, Andrew Garfield took over with the Amazing Spider-Man. Now, this version of Peter Parker is not the most regarded and Andrew stayed for only 2 movies. Well, until Tom Holland took the job. But he didn’t make an appearance in a solo movie like the previous 2 actors. Oh, no. We first got a glimpse of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. And he blew our minds with how good he was. A year after Captain America: Civil War he got his solo outing as Spidey in Spider-Man: Homecoming and the rest is history. The fans got a new favorite again, and Tom really brought back the respect for the character.
