And What’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns All About You Might Ask?

Developed by… and published by… Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a tactical role-playing game for the Marvel fan in you. It has comic book characters from multiple Marvel Comics properties, such as Midnight Sons, Avengers, X-Men, and Runaways. But you’ll also be able to create your own superhero “The Hunter” with a choice of over 40 different powers.

Marvel's Midnight Suns

After centuries of sleep, Lilith, Mother of Demons, has been revived by Hydra through a twist of dark magic and science. Lilith stops at nothing to complete an ancient prophecy and brings back her evil master, Chthon. Pushed to the brink, the Avengers enlist the help of the Midnight Suns (Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik and Ghost Rider), young heroes with powers deeply rooted in the supernatural, formed to prevent the very prophecy Lilith aims to fulfill. Together, they resurrect an ancient warrior – the Hunter, Lilith’s forsaken child and the only hero known to have ever defeated her.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is due to be released on October 7th, 2022.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns VS Marvel’s Upcoming Projects

Or rather MCU’s upcoming projects. Yes. Thor: Love and Thunder just got its premiere and the TV viewers just watched Ms. Marvel’s finale. But what’s next for the MCU? What can we expect from Marvel’s studio near the end of this year and even the next? What does the future hold for Marvel?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is next on the long list of Marvel premieres. November 11, 2022, is the release date, but there are a few things that are different now in the sequel. The biggest difference of course is the absence of the Black Panther/ T’Challa. As we all know, Chadwick Boseman, the actor that portrayed T’Challa in the original movie died in August 2020. He was just 43 years old at the time of his untimely death from cancer.

However, in the sequel, we’ll get to see the return of most of the cast and the addition of some new faces as well. Most notably the addition of Dominique Thorne in the role of Riri Williams / Ironheart, and Tenoch Huerta. He has been cast in an undisclosed antagonist role and learned the Mayan language for his role. Ryan Coogler is back in the director’s chair, while Black Panther composer Ludwig Göransson was set to return for the sequel.

But when it comes to the lead role, Chadwick Boseman’s brother, Derrick Boseman has spoken out against the idea of retiring the character of T’Challa rather than recasting. He believes that his brother wouldn’t have been so egotistical as to want the character to die with him and would instead want the character’s journey to continue.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the first MCU movie of 2023. Indeed. With a set release date of February 17, 2023, Quantumania is the sequel to Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018). And is the 31st film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) altogether. But aside from the return of the original cast, there are some new faces to look forward to. Loki’s nemesis Kang the Conqueror is back in the MCU project (played by Jonathan Majors). Additionally, Bill Murray has been cast in an undisclosed villain role, so that would be fun to watch.

This is Bill Murray’s third comic-book role. He had previously voiced Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in a 1975 radio show adapting the early issues of “The Fantastic Four”. And he, later on, would voice Garfield in Garfield (2004) and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006).

Marvel's Midnight Suns

Peyton Reed is back as the director of an Ant-Man movie (like he did for the previous two), but Jeff Loveness is a brand-new face in the writing department.

But hey. Did you know that this is the third trilogy in the MCU to have the same director for all three films? And the thirty-second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Speaking of the trilogy with the same director… Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is also that. However, 2023 is the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023. Will Poulter as Adam Warlock is the new addition to the cast, while Chukwudi Iwuji, Daniela Melchior, Maria Bakalova, and Nico Santos are also in undisclosed roles.

Callie Brand will appear as an alien as well. Speaking of the trilogy with the same director… Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is also that. Marvel's Midnight Suns

The movie went through some drama even before the production started. James Gunn was fired as director and then re-hired by the studio.  Despite being fired after an investigation brought up inappropriate jokes from Gunn’s past, there has been a massive outcry of support for James Gunn online. Over 300,000 people have signed a petition online demanding his reinstatement. And many celebrities, (including the entire main cast of Guardians of the Galaxy), have publicly expressed their support. James Gunn eventually got back in the director’s chair.

The Marvels

The Marvels is in fact, the sequel to Captain Marvel (2019). Next, it’s a continuation of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel (2022), and the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) overall.

Nia DaCosta is the director behind it, while the release date is set for July 28, 2023. As part of Phase Four of the MCU of course. Brie Larson is back in the role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, while Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. But here’s the fun fact. The film marks Samuel L. Jackson’s 15th MCU project. Yes, you’ve read that right. 15th MCU movie for the legend. Megan McDonnell, a story editor on the Marvel-based series WandaVision (2021), penned the script for The Marvels. And finally, this is the first MCU sequel not to bear the protagonist’s name on its title. Rather, the title refers to the three main superheroes featured. Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Spectrum/Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

Marvel's Midnight Suns

But what about the TV shows? Let’s take a closer look at some of the most fascinating MCU TV shows that await us after Ms. Marvel.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

That’s right. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is next on Marvel’s agenda and it’s premiere date is on August 17, 2022, on Disney+. The first season will consist of nine episodes and it has the incredibly talented Tatiana Maslany in the role of Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk. Mark Ruffalo is back in the role of Bruce Banner / Smart Hulk and so is Tim Roth in the role of Emil Blonsky / Abomination.

Jameela Jamil was cast as Titania, while Benedict Wong returns as Wong. The Sorcerer Supreme who previously encountered Blonsky. Speaking of… This will be the first time since The Incredible Hulk (2008) where Emil Blonsky/Abomination (Tim Roth) is featured as a full character in an MCU project. Roth previously made a brief appearance as Abomination in the film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021).

Secret Invasion And Ironheart

Secret Invasion is another TV show from MCU that you should look forward to. However, this one doesn’t have a set release date. It is intended to be the ninth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as Nick Fury from the film series. Along with Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, with Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, and Don Cheadle also starring.

But don’t dismiss Ironheart. Another TV show without a release date. Dominique Thorne stars as Riri Williams / Ironheart in the series, and the series will consist of six episodes. Additionally, Anthony Ramos, Harper Anthony, Manny Montana, and Alden Ehrenreich have been cast in undisclosed roles.

But did you know that Dominique Thorne was cast without doing an audition? Yes, she was.

Which only leads us back to… Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
