Biomutant

Biomutant is next. And yes. You can probably tell that Biomutant inspired me to make one of my usual lists. A list in which I compose kick-ass movies with a similar theme. And mutants is the theme of Biomutant of course. Hence, the list of 6 cool mutant movies.

But the thing is, I’ve written about plenty of mutants before. From different games of course, but yes. Mutants were involved in all of them nonetheless. For instance one of my favorites is Metro Exodus (available here). And I can’t forget about the good old Resident Evil franchise (available here as well). However, I’ll be focusing on a rather new release in this article. Biomutant is the title and I’d love to tell you more about it.

Biomutant

What’s Biomutant All About?

First and foremost, it’s developed by Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic GmbH. Secondly, it’s an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG that was released at the end of last month. Yes, it’s rather new. But it’s a fun new game with a unique martial arts-styled combat system allowing you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action. And in Biomutant, a plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided. So you’ll get to explore a world in turmoil and define its fate. Will you be its savior or lead it to an even darker destiny?

But What Are Some of The Steam User Comments Saying About Biomutant?

* Old Man Mordaith says: The Grim-Yet-Cute world looks beautiful. The creature design is splendid. And overall, I think this game will appeal to many folks. However, again, it will not be to the taste of all. I strongly recommend checking out some raw gameplay footage if you are on the fence on this one.

*While MamaS3zKnokYuOut adds: The game is a lot of fun. Great exploration, fun fighting and awesome graphics. I have been recommending this game to everyone.

Don’t forget! Biomutant is available for purchase here at IndieGala. Hurry up and get it while it’s hot.

And Which Movies Go Well With The Game?

Well, movies with lots of mutants of course. Much like the diversity in the gaming industry, there’s plenty of diversity on mutants in the film industry too. Yes, and although Resident Evil first comes to mind here, I’m going to skip it for now. Why? Well, I’ve written plenty of articles about RE, and it’s a bit too obvious. How about I explore other movies with plenty of other scary (and not so scary) mutants? Sounds good? Let’s begin.

The New Mutants

I believe a disclaimer is needed here. At the very start of this list. There will be a lot of MCU movies on this list, so be prepared for that. You know just a fair heads up at the start. Are you a fan of the MCU? Let us know which particular movie is your favorite. However, The New Mutants is the thirteenth and final installment in the X-Men film series. And it’s about a group of 5 mutants who discovered their powers just recently. Sadly this is not a stellar movie, but it does have a good cast nonetheless. Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga are part of the cast while Josh Boone is behind the camera.

But The New Mutants was a by-the-book project by Marvel, and id did suffer plenty of re-shoots while still in production. However, I guess I’m the only one that finds it watchable and somewhat fun. Despite the lack of coherent plot or character development. How about you? Did you enjoy New Mutants?

Fun fact: This is the last Marvel film to be released with Stan Lee as an executive producer.

X-Men

Now I believe I also mentioned the X-Men movie in my David Hayter article (which you can check out again here). But yeah. Although my favorite is X2, I’m going with the OG of the X-Movies. The 2000 movie directed by Bryan Singer of course. And what’s left to be said about X-Men? First of all, it still holds up today. Sure more than 2 decades have passed, but the cast, the story and even the SGI are still great. It’s fantastic as it is, and also one of my favorite movies ever. It also deals with prejudice, guilt and racism but within the very dangerous world of mutants. And yes, I highly recommend it.

Fun fact: This is the only X-Men movie to be mostly an original story. All of the other movies were loosely based on specific stories from comic books.

Deadpool

No, I’m not even going to acknowledge X-Men Origins: Wolverine here. Even though Deadpool first appeared in the 2009 movie. No this particular part of the article is about the 2016 movie, and of course, it has to be on the list. Deadpool is of course about… Deadpool. Or rather about Wade Wilson. A down on his luck man who will get disfigured after a failed experiment to cure his cancer. But that’s not all. He’ll also get a special power to not ever die (or feel pain). And he’ll use his newfound power to get revenge on the man responsible for this. Ryan Reynolds is yet again in the role of Deadpool, and he’s amazing in it. The movie is hilarious and I just have to include it on the list.

Fun fact: This film has a lower budget than any of the X-Men, Iron Man, Avengers, or Captain America movies.

Logan

I just can’t get enough of Hugh Jackman movies, how about you? Especially the movies in which he’s Wolverine, but yeah. I’m gonna include Logan here solely because this is a masterpiece of a movie. It’s a modern western and a swan song for the character. It’s also a highly emotional and beautiful movie that will always hold a special place in every Wolverine fan. Seriously, how good is Logan. The performances from everyone are top-notch. Jackman is good, but so is Sir Patrick Stewart. Not to mention Daphne Keen, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant and Boyd Holbrook who are also stellar. But yeah. Logan is a gritty movie about the last days of the mutants, and it’s a must-watch.

Fun fact: Logan smiles only three times throughout the movie.

Suicide Squad

While we wait for the Suicide Squad 2, let’s look back at the 2016 OG movie. It’s filled with misfits and mutants and yes. It’s bonkers as you remember it. And has mutants, villains and criminals, so I just had to include it. Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davies are going to reprise their roles in the sequel, and I can hardly wait. But yeah. Suicide Squad is about a bunch of apprehended criminals that are tasked with dangerous black ops mission. They must work together in order to survive. Yeah, the sequel arrives in August and the hype is real here at IndieGala.

Fun fact: The Joker’s car, the Jokermobile, is customized based on an Infiniti G35 Vaydor [V35].

The Fly

We started with the newest movie on the list and we’re finishing the article with the oldest. Yes, The Fly is the last pick on this list, and it’s also one of my favorite David Cronenberg movies of all time. And as you can probably tell by now, The Fly is … well a movie about a fly. Actually about a mad scientist who will accidentally turn himself into a fly-like mutant. A self-made mutant if you will. Jeff Goldblum has the titular role, while his ex-wife (Geena Davies) has the leading female role. It’s a gnarly and scary movie that is a Halloween must in my house. The makeup is on point and so are the practical effects. But fits in this particular list perfectly too.

Fun fact: Originally a project for Tim Burton to direct.

Have You Tried Out Biomutant Yet?
