And Which Projects Pair Well With Dome Keeper?

Well, projects that have a dome as a central piece. Whether it’s a TV show, motion picture, or animated movie… It has to have a fictional dome in the premise. There has been plenty of projects with domes on the premise, so it’s good to take a closer look at some of them. Which ones made the cut? Scroll down to find out more.

Under The Dome

Seems fitting right? The dome is in the title after all. However, this TV adaptation of Stephen King’s novel paired mystery and science fiction rather well. Sadly, it only got 3 seasons but remains a fan favorite to this day. And it tells the story of the residents of the fictional small town of Chester’s Mill. When a massive, transparent, indestructible dome suddenly cuts them off from the rest of the world, they’ll be forced to adapt and survive under these new circumstances. Military forces, the government, and the media positioned outside the barrier attempt to break it down, but it’s not an easy process. It was a decent TV show that fell off the rails in the later seasons. But it deserves a mention here.

Fun fact: In 2019, Stephen King openly voiced his disappointment with the overall series on Twitter, and expressed hope for a reboot series with Hulu.

The Simpsons Movie

The first and so far the only feature-length animated Simpsons movie. And in it, after a dangerous toxic waste pollutes Springfield, President Schwarzenegger, will imprison Springfield under a giant glass dome. Chaos ensures, and the Simpsons will be forced into self-imposed exile in Alaska. However, the road to redemption for Homer is not gonna be that easy. The movie was a commercial and critical success, and originally a sequel was planned. But on September 11, 2022, it was announced that the sequel is no longer in development and later canceled. If you haven’t seen it… Do it now. You’ll thank me later.

Fun fact: A major plot point is that Homer is adamant about moving the family to Alaska. Appropriately, there is a city in Alaska called Homer.

Logan’s Run

We’re gonna touch on the 1976 movie, and not the TV series that followed as a spin-off. But Logan’s Run depicts a utopian future society on the surface. A futuristic dystopia where the population and the consumption of resources are maintained in equilibrium by killing everyone who reaches the age of 30. the remnants of human civilization live in a sealed city contained beneath a cluster of geodesic domes and yes. Because of it, the movie qualified to be on this list. Michael York, Jenny Agutter, Richard Jordan, Farrah Fawcett, and Peter Ustinov are in it, and it remains a cult movie to this day. It’s a must-watch.

Fun fact: Peter Ustinov improvised much of his dialogue.

Because… Why Not? It’s got a dome. Check. It’s a stoner comedy. Check. It’s got Kylie Minogue in the cast and it’s a Pauly Shore movie. Double check. What’s not to like? Granted, it’s not Oscar-worthy, but for a 90’s comedy with Pauly Shore, it is what it is.

Oh yeah. Stephen Baldwin is in it too, and it looks like he and Pauly are developing a sequel. But in the original 1996 movie Shore and Baldwin portray moronic best friends. They get themselves locked inside the Bio-Dome, a science experiment, along with a group of environmental scientists for one year. Yes. It has a dome on the premise, and yes. It deserves a spot on this list.

Fun fact: Alec Baldwin told his brother, Stephen Baldwin, that doing this movie could end his acting career.
