Another day, another video game adaptation. Five Nights At Freddy’s is next on the Hollywood agenda, and we couldn’t be more excited. Why? Because of several reasons actually. Five Nights At Freddy’s is a fabulous point-and-click survival horror video that has been enjoying a cult-like status among fans.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: Stay Tuned For It?
Sadly, we don’t have it here at IndieGala (yet), we had it in some of our past bundles. But on the store we do have plenty of great point-and-click games for you to choose from. Sonya The Great Adventure is one of my favorite games, and I explored it in length in my Filmaholic Gamer Review. Which you can read here. Deponia is also one of my proudest accomplishments. Playing it, and then writing about it was awesome as well. Check it out.
But we also have some awesome survival horror games for you to choose from. Metro Exodus is one of our best-sellers of course. Get it here. Die Young is one of our pride and joys. You can just click here and get it for yourself. And who can forget the iconic Resident Evil franchise? It’s the epitome of the survival horror genre, and yes. You can pick and choose the best one from our vast RE selection.
But we’re here about Five Nights At Freddy’s.
What’s Five Nights At Freddy’s All About?
Published and developed by Scott Cawthon. Five Nights At Freddy’s is a point-and-click survival horror video game for survival horror fan in you. It takes place in a fictional family pizzeria called “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza“. In it, you take the role of a security guard who must defend himself from the restaurant’s animatronic characters that become mobile and homicidal at night.
From your small office, you must watch the security cameras carefully. You have a very limited amount of electricity that you’re allowed to use per night (corporate budget cuts, you know). That means when you run out of power for the night. No more security doors and no more lights! If something isn’t right. Namely, if Freddybear or his friends aren’t in their proper places. So you must find them on the monitors and protect yourself if needed!
Can you survive five nights at Freddy’s?
Five Nights At Freddy’s: And What About Josh?
Josh Hutcherson, we mean. Yes, Josh Hutcherson is the star of the upcoming film adaptation of the iconic game. The movie is about to be released on October 27th but just now we got a glimpse of the first teaser. Emma Tammi is the director of the movie, while Scott Cawthon serves as one of the co-writers. On the other hand, Blumhouse Productions is one of the two production companies, so you know it’s gonna be good. Elizabeth Lail, Mary Stuart Masterson and Matthew Lillard are on supporting duty and frankly, we can’t wait for the release date. But for now, we figured to introduce one actor that we haven’t written about before. Josh Hutcherson. More specifically 5 of his most iconic and well-known movies, and we hope you like our picks.
Let’s start shall we?
Bridge to Terabithia
It’s one of Josh’s earliest movies, but it’s good nonetheless. Bridge to Terabithia is adapted from Katherine Paterson’s book of the same title, and Josh shares the screen with some awesome ladies. AnnaSophia Robb of course, Bailee Madison and even Zooey Deschanel. Robert Patrick is in it too. However, Bridge to Terabithia follows two 11-year-old friends who create a fantasy world called “Terabithia”. In order to cope with reality and spend their free time together. This is one of the first movies that I saw Josh in (ever), and it’s also one of my favorite books (ever). So, what’s not to like? It’s a good start to this list, for sure.
Fun fact: AnnaSophia Robb’s stunt double for this movie was a boy, Tyrone Costelloe.
Journey to the Center of the Earth
No, not the classic 1959 version, but the 2008 version of Jules Verne’s 1864 novel of the same name. Why is this movie on this list? Well, it has Josh in it, and of course, it has Brendan Fraser in the cast as well. I won’t miss out on any opportunity to recommend a Brendan Fraser movie, that’s for sure. But Journey to the Center of the Earth is awesome, and it’s in 3D. It’s about a scientist’s quest to find out what happened to his missing brother. So, along with his nephew and their mountain guide, they discover a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the Earth. It’s worth the watch, and it mixes contemporary visuals with old-school storytelling. Check it out.
Fun fact: Brendan Fraser declined to return for the sequel.
The Kids Are All Right
The 2010 comedy/drama has not only a stellar cast. But it also, has a fantastic script that makes for a great movie too. However, when it comes to the cast, Josh is in good company. Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, and Mia Wasikowska are in it too, and it’s a must-watch. It’s about two siblings who are trying to find their biological father. Their gay mothers used sperm through a sperm donor, in order to have them and they’re trying to find out his identity. Weird things will start happening once they succeed. The Kids Are All Right got four Oscar nominations, it’s a must-watch.
Fun fact: Ewan McGregor was originally cast to play Paul.
The Hunger Games
This is the movie that put Josh on the map. And the one that made him into an A-lust, blockbuster star. The Hunger Games is a dystopian action film in which Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Hutcherson) are forced to compete in the Hunger Games. An elaborate televised fight to the death consisting of adolescent contestants from the 12 Districts of Panem. The Hunger Games was a critical and financial success that prompted Hollywood to follow it up with 4 separate movies. It’s a must-watch for every fan of science fiction/dystopian literature. And for every fan of Josh and Jennifer too.
Fun fact: Elizabeth Banks spent forty-five minutes every day getting a manicure.
The Disaster Artist
A loosely based biopic for book-ending this list. Because why not? Directed by and starring James Franco, the movie chronicles an unlikely friendship between aspiring actors Tommy Wiseau and Sestero. A friendship that results in the production of Wiseau’s 2003 film The Room. One of the worst movies ever made. The real-life brothers James and Dave Franco star as Wiseau and Sestero, while Alison Brie, Ari Graynor, Josh Hutcherson, Jacki Weaver, and Seth Rogen are on supporting duty. Despite being a movie about one of the worst movies ever, The Disaster Artist is actually a great film. It’s funny, charming and filled with great performances. An instant classic.
Fun fact: James Franco was mentioned in “The Disaster Artist,” the book on which this film is based.
But….
