May the 4th be with you! On this special day, I want to talk to you about Star Wars Battlefront II. Be careful though, I do not mean the game produced by the software house Dice. Rather, I want to explain why the classic Star Wars Battlefront II is one of the best games for the fans of the saga.
We take this journey in a galaxy far, far away and rediscover the most beautiful war videogame in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Battlefront II and the different gameplay modes
There are 3 different modes you can choose from: Campaign, Galactic Conquest and Instant Action. I remember that when the new Battlefront II was announced, many gamers expected a story mode in the game. Well, a story mode was already present in the original Star Wars Battlefront II and it was FANTASTIC.
The game’s Campaign Mode is called Rise of the Empire and tells the story of a platoon of clones. You can play the role of a soldier of the 501st legion and move from the battle of Geonosis to that of Hoth in a single narrative arc.
Besides, to succeed in continuing you will have to complete certain missions. At first, it will seem easy, but believe me, some stages will make you suffer like those on Mygeeto or Naboo.
In Galactic Conquest, you can create your fleet and fight against the enemy army. With the credits acquired during battles, you can increase your army with special soldiers such as the Jetpack Trooper and the Droideka.
I’ve always loved this mode because it allows you to join the faction you want. You can choose between Clones, Rebels, Empire and Droids. You can create epic battles, trying to conquer any planet by eliminating the enemy faction.
Finally, in Instant Action, you can choose the planet on which to face specific missions. In this case, you can explore all the modes of the game, such as Hunt Mode or Conquest Mode.
If you want to have fun, I suggest you select the planet Tatooine and choose the Hero Assault mode. Here you can decide to play heroes or villains and fight for the fate of the galaxy.
Choose a soldier class: do or do not, there’s no try
Another thing I’ve always liked about Star Wars Battlefront II is the choice of soldiers. As in the old shooters, in the game, you can choose which soldier to use to carry out missions.
You can choose the common infantry soldier, equipped with an assault rifle, or select the sniper and eliminate enemies from a distance. Plus, you can decide to choose the heavy soldier, slow but hard to shoot down or engineer, a suitable soldier to repair vehicles.
With all these soldiers available, you can choose from time to time how to face the battle. In this way, the game is always fun and new to discover. Thanks to different approaches, the longevity of Star Wars Battlefront II is simply amazing.
I don’t want to be nostalgic, but I think today’s shooters can learn a lot from Star Wars Battlefront II. Nowadays both FPS and TPS seem repetitive and trivial, except for a few exceptions.
In my opinion, if today’s games had neat details like Battlefront’s, we could play some masterpieces!
Legendary planets to conquer
I think no game is better than Battlefront II, to experience the atmosphere of Star Wars. This is possible thanks to the exceptional realization of the planets.
Of course, Star Wars Battlefront II came out in 2005 and its graphics may seem dated. Regardless, a true enthusiast will be amazed by the snow-capped mountains of Hoth or the marshlands of Dagobah.
There are many planets present: Yavin 4, Endor, Kamino, Coruscant, Utapau, Tatooine, and others. Every planet has its eco-system, own creatures or characteristic elements.
In short, conquering planets will be a wonderful experience!
