Exoprimal

Exoprimal is a game we look forward to. It’s due to be released in the middle of July. And frankly, it’s another reason to want the summer to come even faster. Seriously.

But at the same time, Exoprimal is a brand-spanking new third-person shooter that we want to see from Capcom. It also got massive hordes of dinosaurs and mutated prehistoric creatures. What’s not to like? And writing about dinosaurs is something we do pretty well here at IndieGala’s blog. We devoted plenty of articles about Jurassic World Evolution, and we loved every single one of them. Like the one in which we were defending the Fallen Kingdom. The second installment in the JW franchise. You can read it here.

Exoprimal

But right here and now, we’re all about Exoprimal.

What’s Exoprimal All About?

Developed by CAPCOM Co., Ltd. And published by Capcom JP, Exoprimal is an upcoming third-person shooter game. Exoprimal is also an online, team-based action game that pits humanity’s cutting-edge exosuit technology against history’s most ferocious beasts. The dinosaurs.

Exosuits are grouped into different roles, and players will pilot these exosuits to hold firm against overwhelming dinosaur swarms. In an online-only, team-based action game modes.

The year is 2040…

Sudden dinosaur outbreaks have engulfed the globe in a crisis that threatens humanity’s very existence.

Yet all hope is not lost. The corporation Aibius has developed a hyper-advanced AI called Leviathan that can predict the location of future outbreaks. This technology, along with Aibius’s revolutionary powered suits. Or exosuits, gives humanity a fighting chance to stem the tide of the saurian swarms.

Exosuit pilots, otherwise known as ex-fighters, are in high demand.

So, take the ex-fighter aptitude test now. And join the ranks of Aibius’s heroic pilots in their fight to stave off the extinction of the human race.

Exoprimal is available for pre-purchase here at IndieGala. Get in now. Pre-Purchase Exoprimal Deluxe Edition here.

Exoprimal And Dinosaur Movies: They Go So Well Together

Indeed, they do. Which is why are choosing 5 outstanding movies filled with this highly anticipated game. You can find well-established movies and rather unknown ones. Some oldies and some rather new films. Animated movies, motion picture movies and everything in between. We hope you like our eclectic mix.

Let’s start.

65

Let’s start this list with something fresh and new. 65 is a 2023 and one that would have done better if it was marketed a bit better. I hardly saw any commercial about it, other than the obligatory trailers. But it’s a perfectly decent survival science-fiction movie with a perfectly talented actor in the center of it. It has Adam Driver in the role of Miles. A pilot that reluctantly takes on another two-year-long expedition to another planet.

But his mission is cut short after his ship is badly hit by asteroids and he unexpectedly crash-lands on an unknown planet. He’ll find that he’s not the lone survivor of that ship, and he’ll also find that he’s not alone on this planet. Dinosaurs are roaming the surface. As I said, this is hardly the movie of the year, but it’s fairly decent. It’s got suspense, tension and action. And there’s the engaged performance from Adam Driver too. It’s great to watch.

Fun fact: “Koa” in the Hawaiian language means “Warrior”.

Theodore Rex

Yes, I know. It’s not exactly a masterpiece, but hey. It’s got a dinosaur in it. Look, Whoopie Goldberg wasn’t so keen on starring in this movie, and she even tried to get out of it. But hey. For the 10-year-old in me back in 1996 it was great. It’s set in a futuristic society in which humans and anthropomorphic dinosaurs co-exist. Not to mention the movie tried to catch the wave of dinosaur-related flicks that Jurassic Park started just a few years back. If only it was a success. Both commercially and critically. I mean the plot, the villain and the entire movie are bonkers, to say the least. However, you should give it a try. Perhaps your inner 10- year old will love it as much as mine still does.

Fun: Leonard Nimoy was asked to direct this film. He thought about it but eventually declined.

Jurassic Park

You’ve guessed it. We couldn’t possibly begin to talk about dinosaur movies without mentioning the OG of them all. The big one. The one that’s still the pinnacle of quality. And of course, the one that no other sequel, prequel, or reboot can touch. The 1993 Jurassic Park.  With Steven Spielberg behind the camera and with Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough in front of it… Jurassic Park is a god damn masterpiece. Let’s face it. It’s also a movie set on the fictional island of Isla Nublar. Right there on that island, a wealthy businessman (Richard Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park of de-extinct dinosaurs. But when the plans backfire, the team and a couple of visitors will need to survive the new ordeal. If only that was that easy.

Fun fact: Steven Spielberg received $250 million from this movie’s gross and profit participation.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Speaking of reboots and remakes of Jurassic Park… This is a movie that fits in both categories. It’s the second movie of a trilogy that NO one asked for. But out of the three movies in the reboot, this one holds the most promise. Sure, it’s got some old faces and some new ones but the glue that holds everything together is the amazing direction from J. A. Bayona. Yes, everyone is full of praise for Colin Trevorrow’s movie but Bayona did so much better job. An impending volcanic eruption and meddling from the mercenary team’s ulterior motives are also part of the plot here. But let’s face it. Aside from the incredible direction, lots of things were missing. And it’s here where the quality began to decline. It’s worth the watch, to say the least.

Fun fact: First movie in the Jurassic Park franchise to have a post-credits scene.

Land Before Time

This is the oldest movie on this list. And another fond memory from my childhood. It’s also one of Don Booth’s finest movies. But at its core, it’s an animated adventure set in the age of dinosaurs. Land Before Time of course. And in that age, an orphaned brontosaurus teams up with other young dinosaurs. They set up on an unlikely adventure in order to reunite with their families in a valley. Although the initial response was nixed, Critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert gave the film “two thumbs up”. Siskel found it to be “sweet more than it was scary” and “quite beautiful”, also while praising its straightforward story. Give it a shot. It may bring you back to your childhood. Or at the very least in the late 80s.

Fun fact: The role of Ducky was Judith Barsi’s favorite of her own film roles.

But… Are You Excited About Exoprimal?
