Ashly Burch

Ashly Burch is a stranger here at IndieGala. But frankly, video game voice actors are not. Just one year ago, we devoted an entire article to David Hayter. The OG voice of Solid Snake and you can read all about it here.

Ashly Burch And David Hayter

But in fact, these two individuals have lots in common. Ashly to this day credits David Hayter as an inspiration to get into the business of voice acting. She credits Metal Gear Solid (1998) as the reason she got interested in voice acting. And of course, David Hayter is the driving force to get into the business. Indeed. Upon seeing voice actor David Hayter’s name alongside that of the main characters, she looked him up. And immediately realized that there were actual people who voiced the characters. Subsequently, she realized that was what she wanted to do as a career and the rest is history.

Ashly Burch

Here’s something cool about her. Multiple times before, she mentioned that she suffers from chronic anxiety. But it was her love for video games that helped her to calm down during her childhood. How cool is that?

Ashly Burch: Early Beginnings With Borderlands

In fact, it was Borderlands 2 that opened the doors for Ashly. Who’d known that she would jump-start her career with one of the best game series of all time? Well, she did, and she has her brother to thank for that opportunity. Why? Well, her brother, Anthony Burch, was hired as a writer for Borderlands 2. And he was the one who suggested she try out for Tiny Tina. Again. The rest is history.

But she has plenty of great roles under her belt. And that’s why we’re here for. To take a closer look at some of her finest acting roles to date. Now in her decade-long career, she can proudly present plenty of great roles. But for the purpose of this article, we selected 5 amazing and memorable ones.

Which ones made the cut? Scroll down to find out.

Tiny Tina – Tiny Tina’s Wonderland & Borderlands

The Borderlands series has no shortage of quirky characters, that’s for sure. But you shouldn’t mess with Tiny Tina. Yes. Tiny Tine is an old friend of Roland’s and she has a picture of them together in her room.  Furthermore, she is an unstable thirteen-year-old explosives expert and she has plenty of cool quotes to match too. “That’s right, bitches – my big brudder’s about to teach you some MANNERS. Nobody steals Mushy Snugglebites’ badonkadonk and lives!” and “You’re cordially invited BITCH!!!” are some of my favorites.

The Borderlands series is available for purchase here at IndieGala.

Parvati Holcomb – The Outer Worlds

You’re really missing out if you didn’t pick Parvati as your companion in The Outer Worlds. She’s charming, sincere, and funny. And this is entirely due to Ashly Burch’s standout performance. But at the same time. Parvati is an empathetic yet naive mechanic working in Edgewater. She can also be quite shy, frequently wanting the Stranger to speak on her behalf. However, she can be talkative with the others once she gets to know them. IN other words, she’s probably the best character in The Outer Worlds.

The Outer Worlds is available for purchase here at IndieGala. Check it out here.

Chloe Price – Life Is Strange

Chloe is a stubborn, mischievous, and rebellious young woman. She is the archetypal punk-rocker, expressed in both her music taste and style. She loves to get high, drink beer, and she’s also bold and outgoing. Furthermore, she has a big mouth often making snarky comments, acts fearless and loves to take risks. Which often gets her in trouble, and frankly goes well with her punk aesthetic. Pretty much everyone in these games is given an exemplary performance. With smart and sharp writing sure, but Ashly Burch as Chloe Price is one of the best. And that’s in no small part because of Ashly.

Mel – The Last Of Us Part 2

The Last of Us Part 2’s Mel is a complicated character for sure. She’s a former member of the Fireflies and a member of the Washington Liberation Front. Not to mention, she’s a strong-headed but caring individual, showing that she was as capable as any other WLF member. Mel’s also among the more compassionate members of Abby’s group. Her compassion is even more evident in how she had a sense of pity for her enemies, especially children. But yeah. Burch’s performance stands out as a climactic flashpoint. Not to be missed.

Aloy – Horizon: Forbidden West & Horizon: Zero Dawn

Hey, we already wrote about Aloy too. Jennifer Lawrence is due to portray Aloy on the silver screen and we can hardly wait. A Nora Brave, Seeker and machine hunter of unparalleled skill, Aloy is the genetic clone of 21st-century roboticist and engineer Dr. Elisabet Sobeck. At the same time, Aloy is curious, determined, and intent on uncovering the mysteries of her world but it’s Ashly that really shines in this role! Ashly Burch plays the role with wonder, grit, and strength. She does so even more in the sequel, Horizon: Forbidden West, which expands on everything its predecessor did.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is available for purchase here.
