And What’s Treasure Hunter Simulator All About?

Developed by Drago Entertainment and published by Movie Games SA, Treasure Hunter Simulator is exactly that. A game that simulates treasure hunting for you. Treasure Hunter Simulator gives you a chance to explore historically important locations worldwide. And by using your metal detectors, to discover that past by finding interesting artefacts and getting to know their historical significance. With locations scattered all over the world, you’ll need to find something interesting and valuable in your local woods. To gain the prestige and funds needed for better equipment and travel expenses to exotic, remote locations. You can decide to keep artefacts for your collection or to auction them off to travel even further or get even better gear.

And you’re a fan of Treasure Hunter Simulator, then you should get hyped about the sequel. Treasure Hunter Simulator 2 was announced last year, and it offers completely new treasures for you to find. These include trash and common objects, but hunt for real artifacts with real history! Some of the finds are part of larger treasures that you can sell for much more money when they are complete. The release date is yet to be announced. However we have no doubt that it’s gonna be good. And if you’re in doubt about the first game…

Just check out some of the Steam User comments about the Treasure Hunter Simulator.

* It’s a great game and fun to see what you find (I wish it was that easy in real life) Says Mr. Pug.

*While Nuke Skywalker adds: Fun as heck!

Well, out of all the 7 video games that are in this sale, we picked the most fun and exciting one as our inspiration. Treasure Hunter Simulator. Some of the movie picks on this list are old, while some of them are quite new. But there’s no denying that all of them are exciting. Which ones made the cut? Scroll down and find out.

Jungle Cruise

Why not start with the latest movie on this list? And a movie that features The Rock in the lead role no less. But this is a movie based on Disney’s theme park attraction and it’s great. It’s also filled to the brim with fantastic actors. My personal favorites are Édgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. But I suppose there are some who’ll watch it solely because of The Rock. Hey, no judgement.

But yeah. Emily Blunt is great too. However, The Rock plays Frank Wolff. A cynical captain of a riverboat who’ll get hired by Dr. Lily Houghton (Blunt) in order to find the Tree of life. They’ll go deep into the jungle and find something more than an adventure there. Look, it’s not the best movie on this list I know. It’s heavy on CGI and not the finest when it comes to the script. But it’s a fun way to spend 127 minutes of your life and it fits perfectly on this list.

Fun fact: The main theme in the opening is an instrumental version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters”. It can be heard sometimes throughout the movie.

Treasure Planet

Unlike Jungle Cruise, Treasure Planet is in my opinion one of the most underrated Disney movies of all time. Criminally underrated indeed. It’s incredible and I’ve spent almost 20 years defending it. Based on the Italian mini-series Treasure Island in Outer Space, Treasure Planet is a true gem for every adventure fan. With a stellar voice cast and impeccable animation, this is a must-watch. It follows Jim Hawkins. A rebellious teen who’ll find and map from a pirate and use that very same map in order to find the legendary Treasure Planet. He’ll travel all across the Universe, but he’ll also be in good company while he does that.

Fun fact: The performance of Jim Hawkins was based in part on James Dean.

Gold

Another adventure movie but with an Earth-bound setting. And another movie with an incredible cast. With the Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey in the lead… Gold is in fact a movie based on a true story. It has the 90’s Bre-X mining scandal in the center of the story. When a massive gold deposit was supposedly discovered in the jungles of Indonesia. Yes, Matthey’s character sets off on a journey to find gold in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia and what a journey it is. This is a truly intriguing film and it deserves your attention. It also belongs on this list.

Fun fact: During an interview on ESPN’s First Take, Matthew claimed this was his favorite role he has ever done.

Romancing the Stone

The first out of two movies on this list are from the ’80s. You’ll just have to scroll down to find out which is the second one. But Romancing the Stone is a true gem from the ’80s. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and with Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito in the cast, this is a must-watch. Straight from the mid-’80s and from South America as well. When a successful but lonely novelist will head out to Columbia to save her sister, she’ll end up on an unlikely treasure hunt too. The adventure follows and believe me. Romancing the Stone delivers the goods in the adventure department. It’s a fantastic movie.

Fun fact: Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, Christopher Reeve turned down the role of Jack T. Colton before Michael Douglas accepted the part.

Three Kings

It’s a satirical black comedy more than it’s an adventure… But there’s an adventure in Three Kings as well. In the middle East. Set in early 90’s Iraq, the movie follows four American soldiers on a gold heist. Gold that was stolen from neighboring Kuwait. The soldiers are in the middle of a war, they’re tired and disillusioned and this gold heist is the last thing that they need. But still. It’s a hidden treasure after all, and they’ll make it their mission to find it. And steal it.

George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube and Spike Jonze are part of the cast, and yes. It’s also a must-watch movie.

Fun fact: The film was banned in Iraq.

The Goonies

The last movie on this list and the last movie from the ’80s. A true classic from Richard Donner and one of my childhood favorites. But the Goonies is about a group of misfits who’ll find a treasure map and set on an adventure to find the treasure it has. A legendary pirate’s long-lost treasure that is. With the best of the best from the ’80s, the Goonies is a fantastic coming-of-age movie. It has great heroes, villains and lots of adventures. If you haven’t seen it by now… Do it. You won’t be sorry.

Fun fact: According to Sean Astin, he was allowed to keep the treasure map used in the film. Several years later his mother Patty Duke discovered it, thought it was just a crinkled piece of paper, and threw it in the trash.
