Why Tekken 7 Ultimate Edition And The Iconic Movie Fights Go Well Together?

Because of the one thing that these two topics have in common. Fighting. There’s plenty of fighting in Tekken 7 Ultimate Edition and in the movies, which I’m going to mention below. Some of them are old, while some of them are fairly new. However, I must mention that these scenes are not listed in any particular order. These are some of my picks, but I’d love to know yours as well. Let’s begin, shall we?

The Hallway Fight From Oldboy

It’s a technical marvel, it’s brutal and entertaining at the same time. The hallway scene from 2003’s Oldboy is a true gem. Not to mention it was shot in one take. And of course, inspired countless younger directors in the years that followed. You can see inspirations from that particular scene in everything. Most notably the acclaimed TV show Daredevil who attempted at creating a very similar scene with the lead character. But the thing about this scenes is how beautifully linear it is. It also shows the exhaustion of our main hero, and I applaud that. Not that many projects are willing to show the main character, tired and beat up, just stopping to catch some air.

Fun fact: Choi Min-Sik is a Buddhist and had to pray after eating the octopi.

Bruce Lee VS Han From Enter The Dragon

Bruce Lee doesn’t really need an introduction. Nor his probably most famous movie. Enter The Dragon of course. The movie all by itself is legendary. And the fight scenes in it are iconic as well. But there’s one particular scene that stands out from the entire movie. And a scene that is regularly included in the best fight scenes of all time. Bruce Lee vs Han. Not to mention the mirror sequence of this scene is one of the most beautiful sequences of all time. It’s a true testament to Lee’s talents as a martial art practitioner.

Fun fact: This is one of two English-language movies in which Bruce Lee speaks with his natural voice. The other is Marlowe (1969).

Neo vs Smith Clones from Matrix Reloaded

Or otherwise known as The Burly Brawl. Yes, I’m talking about the fight between Neo and Agent Smith(s) during the near end of the Machine War. With solid choreography and simultaneous hand-to-hand combat, this is one hell of a fight. Hey, Neo even used a tetherball pole to fight them off. But yeah. It’s not the casualties that matter here. Or the damage at the end. It’s the actual fight scene that’s a joy to watch. That’s saying something considering the fact that it’s from a movie trilogy that has plenty of those to spare.

Fun fact: The fight sequence of Neo versus Smith and his clones (a.k.a. The Burly Brawl) took 27 days to shoot.

The Final Fight From The Karate Kid

It’s the culmination of a truly amazing movie. And what a final fight it is. In essence, it’s a metaphor for the ultimate fight between good vs evil, and yes. It’s tense and fantastic. With a front kick to Johnny’s face, the underdog of this entire story (Daniel LaRusso) scores the tournament-winning point. And therefore wins the tournament. The fans of Cobra Kai had the opportunity to see a showdown between these two characters and in a similar fashion. But the original scene remains the best. It’s sooo good.

Fun fact: Ralph Macchio was 22 during filming. Some of the cast did not believe him when they asked about his age.

The Bride Vs The Crazy 88 From Kill Bill Vol. 1

Another epic fight scene, but this time with a female lead that does most of the fighting. Yes, I’m talking about The Bride (Uma Thurman). She’s a former assassin that starts a revenge mission throughout the 2 Kill Bill movies. And her ultimate goal is…. To Kill Bill. But before she can get to him, she must go through O-Ren Ishii’s personal army in a showdown that’s meticulously directed. You have Quentin Tarantino to thanks for that. It’s a fantastic and lengthy scene that’s thrilling and bloody. But worth the watch.

Fun fact: The Crazy 88 does not actually comprise exactly 88 members. In Vol. 2, Bill speculated that they picked this name because it “sounded cool”. Only 40 actors are credited to Crazy 88.

The Red Circle Night Club Fight from John Wick

Now much like with Cobra Kai, I’ve written about John Wick Before. Check out my John Wick article here. And in my article, I mentioned the craftsmanship of the action scenes and how the movie franchise follows a certain number of rules. No killing of casualties, no glorification of violence for instance. But the nightclub fight from John Wick is astonishing. It’s hard to pick one scene from the franchise that is deemed – THE BEST… But this one is pretty close. It’s bloody and awesome and deserves to be on this list.

Fun fact: Keanu Reeves learned and memorized the nightclub fight sequence the day that the scene was filmed.

Jackie Chan’s First Fight From Rumble In The Bronx

Last but not least. Much like in Bruce Lee’s cast, it’s hard to pick the best fight scene from a Jackie Chan movie. It’s a very unforgiving job since the man almost died (numerous times) in order to perfect his fight scenes. However, the scene between Chan’s character, and a gang of thieves from Rumble In The Bronx is a damn good one. Set in a convenience store, the fight scene is fun to watch. And deserves to be on this list too. Here you’ll notice Chan’s signature style of fighting and the use of props in his fight scenes. He uses everything that he can get his hands-on, and that’s awesome.

Fun fact: This film is considered to feature Jackie Chan’s Hollywood breakthrough performance.
