Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege is next people! It’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege to be more exact, but Rainbow Six Siege for short here. The successor to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Patriots and part of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series.

Rainbow Six Siege is the game we have on sale here at IndieGala, together with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5 and more. One of Ubisoft Montreal’s best offering is now available for purchase indeed. But we’re not going to focus solely on the Rainbow Six Siege game.

We’ll also mention some interesting flicks that involve some parts of the Rainbow Six Siege game. However, let’s start from the beginning.

Rainbow Six Siege: What’s it all about?

A most noteworthy feature of the game is the fact that each player assumes control of an attacker or a defender in different game-play modes. For instance, those modes can be rescuing a hostage, defusing a bomb, terrorist hunt, or simply taking control of an objective within a room.

Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person shooter game. In fact, the players that are playing the game can utilize many different operators from the Rainbow team. Furthermore, the game features a heavy emphasis on environmental destruction.

So players may gain tactical advantages through environmental destruction. Therefore the players are encouraged to utilize creativity and strategy in order to execute their missions. Players can destroy ceilings and floors using breach charges.

Also, they can ambush enemies by rappelling through windows.

Rainbow Six Siege VS the movies

But that’s all about the game. What other movies can be put here on this list? You know… That feature special ops team, hostage, terrorism tactics, or siege as a theme in their plot?

What thrilling and action-packed movies belong on this list?

Scroll down and find out for yourself.

Clear and Present Danger

First of all, while we’re on the subject of Tom Clancy, why not start with a Jack Ryan movie?

Furthermore, before there were Chris Pine and Ben Affleck in the role of Jack Ryan…. There was the one and only Harrison Ford indeed. So let’s go ahead and pick Clear and Present Danger.

Moreover, you can pick any of the 90’s Tom Clancy film adaptations and you won’t be wrong. They’re all amazing, thrilling and nail-biting to watch. But for now, we’re going with Clear and Present Danger.

Harrison Ford is here at his most ass-kicking, cartel-killing mode. This is the last film version of Clancy’s novels to feature Harrison Ford as Ryan, but one of the best as well. Frankly, the moral of this story is…

Never keep Jack Ryan in the dark about anything. Clear and Present Danger had the same director as Patriot Games (Phillip Noyce), and besides Ford, Anne Archer is also yet again in the cast as Jack’s wife. But who else is in this movie? Frankly, it does have some of the best actors ever.

Seems like Willem Dafoe is always stellar. Also, Joaquim de Almeida is amazing, and so are James Earl Jones, Benjamin Bratt, and Henry Czerny.

S.W.A.T.

S.W.A.T. may not be a classic, but it does have some incredible cast and fantastic action scenes. So, it deserves to be on this list, solely because of that.

What’s S.W.A.T. about? Well, first of all, it’s a movie adaptation of the cult TV show from the ’70s. Secondly, as the title suggests, it’s about a S.W.A.T. team mission.

The team is led by Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (played by Samuel L. Jackson). Consequently, the team needs to escort an imprisoned drug kingpin/international fugitive to prison. But there’s one problem. The kingpin (played by Olivier Martinez) has made things difficult for them. Very difficult indeed.

S.W.A.T. was met with mixed reviews, but the film was a box office success. Besides, one of the glowing reviews that the movie received was from the one and only Roger Ebert.

Ultimately hea gave big „thumbs up“ to the dialogue, the characters, and the action scenes. He found them rather believable, which is great.

Sicario

Personally, the movie’s greatest quality is its simplicity. In almost every way indeed. And you can tell just by watching Sicario.

The direction is flawless and fluid, the script is bare but poignant. Next, the acting is top-notch and the outstanding cinematography by Roger Deakins kinda binds all of these qualities together. Giving it an exquisite feel.

A government task force team is enlisted to bring down the leader of a powerful Mexican drug cartel. They travel to Ciudad Juárez, but the mission will prove to be much more difficult than anticipated.

And in all honesty, Benicio del Toro’s performance is so good here. And furthermore, I do feel he was robbed from some great awards that year, precisely for this role. What do you think? Did you like the movie? How about Benicio’s performance?

Rainbow Six Siege

Zero Dark Thirty

Let’s finish this list with a female-directed movie, shall we?

Finally, Zero Dark Thirty was Kathryn Bigelow’s first movie after her Oscar win for The Hurt Locker. And frankly, she delivered the goods once more. Indeed she made a fantastic thriller, and much like the previous movie on this list (Sicario) it had a female character in the lead.

Also, Zero Dark Thirty stirred some controversy when it came our. Most of the outrage aimed at the portrayal of the torture scenes, and the development of the actual events. With some even calling it „pro-torture propaganda“ from Hollywood.

However, the movie proved to be successful both commercially and critically. It was nominated for 5 Academy Awards as well, and it’s still considered as one of Bigelow’s finest movies.

Fun fact: EA even promoted Zero Dark Thirty in its video game Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Indeed, just by offering downloadable maps of locations depicted in the film, but it was a nice touch nonetheless.
