NBA 2K20: Perfect Past Time In Isolation

Why don’t you check NBA 2K20 out and let us know if you like it? Because, what else is left to do when you’re in a quarantine? Playing NBA 2K20 seems like a great option. On the other hand, it’s not like there’s an actual NBA game to watch right now.

NBA 2K20:  And Some Movie Picks As Well

Here’s a suggestion on what else to do.  Besides playing the latest NBA 2K20, video game, you can also check out some basketball-themed movies.

Regardless of your preference, we’ve got you covered. We have basketball-themed movies with real and cartoon-like animals. Ultimately, we also have fantastic basketball-themed movies to satisfy every pallet imaginable.

But first, a word or two about the game itself.

NBA 2K20

NBA 2K20: What’s The Game About?

Firstly, NBA 2K20 is a basketball simulation game. Whoever is the player of this game can (for the most part) play NBA games, as you see them on TV.

They’re with real-life players or customized players and teams. Regardless of what type of gameplay you prefer. Next, the games also follow the rules and objectives of the NBA as well. Similar to the previous game additions, NBA 2K20 has a MyTeam mode.

Now, let’s get back to the movies. Granted. Almost none of these movies was well received (or even liked) by the critics. In fact most of them have rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. But there’s something to be said about nostalgia. So, here it goes.

Space Jam

NBA 2K20

First of all, it would be insane not to mention Space Jam. A film that features the greatest basketball player of all time, Looney Tunes characters and Bill Murray? Yes, please.

Also for the kids that grew up in the ’90s (like me), Space Jam was the greatest form of entertainment. Personally, even now as a 30-something woman, I think that Space Jam still kicks ass.

In addition to being hilarious, Space Jam is a fictionalized account of what happened to Michael Jordan. In just a couple of years. Most notably, from the moment he first retired in 1993, to his eventual comeback in 1995.

It turns out… He was helping a group of Looney Tunes to win their freedom, by teaching them how to play basketball.

Due to the cult status that Space Jam has had over the years, you can expect Space Jam 2 in theaters next year. LeBron James is taking over Michael Jordan’s part and I can’t wait for this movie to come out. How about you?

Air Bud

Air Bud

Another great 90’s classic indeed. Air Bud managed to capitalize on Space Jam’s success. And just one year later, to give us a beautiful Golden Retriever puppy in the role of a basketball star.

Furthermore, Air Bud was a commercial success and managed to produce several sequels. In addition to having the brilliant puppy Buddy, Air Bud had also the late Michael Jeter in the role of the villain.

The precious Buddy becomes an unlikely star of a school basketball team. Although not as widely known as the Space Jam movie, Air Bud has found generations and generations of devoted fans.

The Air Up There

The Air Up There

Forget Footloose! The Air Up There is probably Kevin Bacon’s best movie. Just kidding. However, it does seems like this sports-comedy is severely underrated. But it deserves to be on this list nonetheless. Why? Because it’s so much fun to watch. Never mind what the critics said back in the mid 90’s. Just enjoy the silly nature of this movie.

Kevin Bacon is Jimmy Dolan. A college basketball coach who will stumble upon a very talented player for his team. However, Saleh is from a highly conservative Kenyan village, and bringing him to the USA is not going to be an easy task. Indeed.

Not to mention all the things he’ll have to do to draft him. This is a weird but fun movie. Personally, I think it’s meant for the people that love basketball and Kevin Bacon as well.

Eddie

Eddie

Another 1996 basketball movie. In all honesty 1996 was huge for basketball. First Space Jam and next Eddie? Whoopi Goldberg is Eddie here in this movie. A die-hard Knicks fan, who’s disappointed of her team’s performance.

Finally, when she gets the chance of a lifetime to temporarily coach her favorite team, the owner of the Knicks will see the potential in her.

So, she’ll become the head coach and a lot of funny things will start happening. Most importantly, the Knicks will eventually start winning.

Finally, much like The Air Up There and so many other movies on this list, Eddie was met with negative feedback from the critics. However, that didn’t stop us to enjoy this film. Seriously. Just give it a shot.

Celtic Pride

Celtic Pride

In all honesty, what would happen if you kidnapped the best player in your biggest rivaling team? That’s the conundrum that Dan Aykroyd and Daniel Stern face in Celtic Pride indeed.

Ultimately this is a movie about being a Celtics fan and doing everything to see the Celtics win. However, surprisingly enough, not one single take of this movie was shot in Boston, but that doesn’t matter.

It’s also one of the early attempts of Judd Apatow to branch out into writing motion pictures. It was one of my favorite movies as a child and made me love Daniel Stern even more.

Watch it if you have a chance. It’s still hilarious as always.
