Jagged Alliance

Jagged Alliance is an exciting game series for us. And for me personally to be honest. Why? Well, because I’ve never written about it before. Secondly, because we do love a good RPG adventure game here at IndeGala. And finally, because we love a good mercenary character in an awesome game series. Three cool things.

We’ve mentioned some of the characters on this list before though. For instance, Nina Williams was my bae in my Tekken 7 gaming experience. And quite frankly, she’s my favorite character of the series. But you can read my article here.

Jagged Alliance

But before we can go any further with this article, it’s good to look back at the game itself.

What’s so special about our Jagged Alliance games?

Let’s take a closer look at Jagged Alliance!

Better yet, let’s take a closer look at Jagged Alliance 1: Gold Edition. Jagged Alliance is a true legend of tactical turn-based Strategy! The Gold Edition includes Jagged Alliance and Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games.

A desperate call for help from the island Metavira: The scientist Jack Richards and his lovely daughter Brenda are reaching out to you. The Fallow trees and thus the precious, medical sap on which countless of lives depend, are under the control of the evil and traitorous Santino. That’s why Jack and Brenda hire you, the commander of a mercenary force, to put an end to Santino’s insane plans.

You and your mercenaries have to reclaim the island sector by sector, turn by turn. Cultivate the Fallow Trees and process their juices, as they are the basis for your funding. Hire better mercenaries, train local militias and manage your equipment wisely. Get your troops out there and help the people of Metavira!

More Jagged Alliance At IndieGala!

Jagged Alliance 1: Gold Edition is available for purchase here, but you shouldn’t despair. We have plenty of other JA games.

Jagged Alliance: Rage! Is also available for purchase at IndieGala. So is Jagged Alliance: Crossfire here. And let’s not forget Jagged Alliance Flashback which is also available for purchase here at IndieGala.

But for now, let’s get back to the topic at hand.

Jugged Alliance and the cool mercenaries that we mentioned earlier. Most of them are men (although we do have some ladies on the list). And most of them are from video games that we also have available for purchase. So don’t hesitate to check them out as well. Who made the cut? Scroll down to find out.

Solid Snake From Metal Gear Solid

The ultimate mercenary don’t you think? And we might add, one of the best video game characters ever created. A former Green Beret and highly skilled special operations soldier engaged in solo stealth and espionage missions. But he’s also a character that bares the name of one other cool fictional character.

Snake Plissken from Escape From New York of course. And if you look at the progression of the MGS games you’ll notice that he changes the resemblance to other famous characters. First to Michael Biehn, then to Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson and in Metal Gear Solid 4, Old Snake is modeled after Lee Van Cleef. Who appeared in Escape From New York. We already did an article about David Hayter, the voice actor who is now synonymous with the Solid Snake character. But you’ll be able to see Oscar Isaac in this role pretty soon. Check out our article about that.

Oh and yes. MGS V is available for purchase here.

RJ MacCready From Fallout

Here’s another mercenary with a slight connection to a Kurt Russel character. The Fallout character is actually named after R.J. MacReady. The character that Kurt Russel played in The Thing.  But in his adulthood, he became a mercenary, and by 2287 operates out of Goodneighbor in the Commonwealth. Years of hard living turned him into a hardened warfighter, coping with adversity through the liberal use of sarcasm and humor. Speaking of his personality, MacCready isn’t averse to violence but doesn’t revel in it either. If possible, he will bluff his way through to minimize danger to himself and others. Which is why he’s one of the most interesting characters on this list.

There are plenty of Fallout games to pick and choose from here at IndieGala. Just click here, pick the best for you and enjoy.

Mona Sax From Max Payne

She’s a contract killer which operates in NY. But she’s not your run-of-the-mill contract killer. Mona Sax is an efficient stone-cold contract killer; who when in doubt, kills. The femme fatale’s lack of remorse has led to a body count second to only that of Max Payne himself. The only exception to this is Max, towards whom she points her gun but does not fire. From the very first game, it is apparent that Mona has strong feelings for Max. Mona appears in the first two games in the series, Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. And she was played by Mila Kunis in the film adaptation of the video game.

Dante From Devil May Cry

Dante was a former devil hunter dedicated to exterminating them and other supernatural foes. Named after the Italian poet Dante Alighieri, the character was designed to fit Devil May Cry game designer Hideki Kamiya’s vision of a “cool and stylish” man. While his personality was based on the title character of the Cobra manga series. And yes. Dante’s characterization as a cocky demon hunter with supernatural abilities has turned him into one of the most iconic protagonists in gaming ever since his introduction.

Check out our Devil May Cry inventory here.

Fun fact: Devil May Cry 5 marks the first time Dante’s sword gets broken.

Nina Williams From Tekken

Ah, my favorite Tekken character. She’s my go-to pick when it comes to the game itself. And as I mentioned I even beat my husband in Tekken 7 by playing with her. She’s an Irish, cold-blooded assassin and has a lethal fighting style, consisting of throws, and grapples. Not to mention she has a rivalry with her younger sister, Anna Williams. However, Nina is cold and indifferent, and ruthlessly efficient in her work. And Nina’s fighting style is comprised of martial arts of Aikido & Koppojutsu in the ways of an assassin. Which is why she’s one of the most fascinating characters ever.

The Tekken 7 game is also available for purchase. Click here and get it now.
