WWE 2K Battlegrounds

From all the partnerships that currently exist, the WWE/Warner Bros is probably the strangest one. WWE 2K Battlegrounds brought me to that partnership, and I must say…. It’s pretty dang glorious. I mean where else you can find classic animated characters like Scooby-Doo and classic WWE stars like The Undertaker? All in one place I might add. But that particular partnership does exist and it’s not solely limited to Scooby-Doo. However, this post is rather different form my previous post for a WWE game. I covered my childhood heroes in my previous post. Wrestlers like John Cena for instance. This is also a rather peculiar, but more on that later.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds Led Me To This Partnership

The Jetsons and The Flintstones are also in this wacky mix (not just Scooby-Doo), and I’ve just recently found out about this fact. Indeed. I’m a fan of WWE, and of course, I’m a huge fan of the many Hanna-Barbera Production cartoons. But who’d knew that these two go hand in hand together? Not me, that’s for sure. And I don’t know about you , but i’m so glad I find out about this.

But What’s WWE 2K Battlegrounds All About Anyway?

Developed by Saber Interactive and published by 2K, WWE 2K Battlegrounds, is a rather interesting spin-off to the series. Also, it’s more of a fast-paced, arcade-style fighting game. Well, compared to the more realistic main entries to the WWE 2K series anyway. Its fighting style has been compared to WWE All-Stars, and it has over 70 WWE Superstars and Legends on the roster. Not to mention, there’s a variety of match types with fun, new twists. Including Steel Cage, Royal Rumble, Fatal Four Way and the all-new Battlegrounds Challenge!

Mauro Ranallo and Jerry “The King” Lawler call all the mayhem! Are you ready to enter the battleground? Oh, and case you’re not particularly a fan of WWE 2K Battlegrounds, we have plenty of other WWE related games to pick and choose. Just take a stroll, and take your pick here. You’re welcome.

But what movies would fit perfectly here? As I mentioned the co-production between Warner Bros. Animation and WWE Studios are obvious choices here. So, with that in mind. Which movies should end up in my recommendation list? Well, scroll down and find out by yourself. Disclaimer, most of the movies are direct-to-video movies, and available for purchase at any time.

Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery

Just take a look at the voice cast of Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery. Frank Welker, Mindy Cohn, Matthew Lillard and Charles S. Sutton, Grey DeLisle among others. If you’re a fan of animation, and movies in general you’ll know who these people are. And when a mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the WrestleMania event, the Scooby-Doo gang tries to solve the mystery. And thus save the event itself. However, the production was apparently not much of a pleasant experience for Grey Griffin. The actress reportedly was not impressed by the voice work from certain WWE wrestlers who worked on this project. Oh well. Not everyone is a professional voice actor I suppose.

Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon

Another Scooby-Doo movie. But It’s the last one on the list I promise. And it’s the direct sequel to the previous movie (Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery). So I had to add it to the list. And over here in the sequel, Scooby-Doo and his friends, team-up with the WWE wrestlers for a car race. But a mysterious racer is trying to sabotage the race, and the gang needs to find out who exactly is the villain of the movie. Oh, and the driving partner of Scooby-Doo and Shaggy is none other than The Undertaker. However, Hulk Hogan was billed to be prominently featured in the movie as well. Sadly, on July 23, 2015, WWE terminated their contract with Hogan due to racist comments, and he was omitted from the final cut. Oh well.

The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown!

The Flintstones are next, and I cannot be more excited. I adore the Flintstones so much, that I’m willing to defend the 90’s live-action movie to death. It’s a god damn masterpiece! But The film mentioned above features Fred Flintstone, Barney Rubble and the whole Bedrock gang. With stone age versions of WWE Superstars and Divas of course. However, The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown! is the first animated Flintstones movie in 14 years for the franchise. So, when Fred loses his family’s vacation money, he hatches one wacky plan. To throw a sports entertainment spectacle with his best buddy Barney and some of the best Stone Age Superstars. It’s wacky and hilarious. Check it out.

The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania!

My favorite family from the future. The Jetsons. Sadly, none of the original voice cast returns here for this movie. As all of them had died, except for Frank Welker, who voices Astro. But there are some new and exciting names in the voice cast. Names like Danica McKeller in the role of Judy Jetson and Jeff Bergman in the role of George Jetson.

And yes, the Jetsons, meet the superstars of WWE in this direct-to-video movie. So, when George unearths WWE’s Big Show (who has been frozen for 100 years by the way), the futuristic face-off begins. And what a face-off it is. The first new Jetsons production in over 27 years since Jetsons: The Movie, and it’s worth giving it a shot.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds: What’s Your Favorite Partnership Movie?

WWE is notorious for the collaborations with acclaimed studios. Sony, Warner Bros and so on. And because of that, there are plenty of similar movies to add to this list. Which ones are your favorite? Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania? Yes, that’s part of the WWE roster as well. Or perhaps you’re looking for the upcoming animated movie Rumble? It’s due to be released in 2021, so stay tuned for that one. But in the meantime, tell us your impressions in the comment section. We’d love to know all about them.
