Gotham Knights

All right now. Let’s start this article with a piece of good news. Well, aside from the fact that Gotham Knights is next on our agenda. Yup. The Warner Bro’s IPs are back at IndieGala. Which means that (once again) you’ll get a great opportunity to purchase cool games from Warner Bro’s vault. We’re pretty stoked about it actually. How about you?

But hey. It’s not like we didn’t touch on previous Warner Bros before. Just this spring we did a review of the new Batman movie. With Robert Pattinson in the titular role, and with Matt Reeves behind the camera, Batman was a true gem this spring. We really loved it. You can read our review here.

Gotham Knights

But we’re after a different Warner Bro’s IP. And some different projects altogether. That’s right. We’re after the upcoming cinematic portrayals of some of the finest WB characters. We’ll get right to it, but first… A thing or two about the game is very much needed here.

What’s Gotham Nights All About?

Developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal, QLOC and published by Warner Bros. Games, Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. Inspired by the Batman: Gotham Knights comic series based on the DC Comics character Batman and his supporting cast, the game focuses on the characters. Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood. As they attempt to restore justice to Gotham City during a period of decline in the immediate aftermath of Batman’s death. Indeed.

Batman is dead now. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to protect Gotham. Despite it all, to bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals.

While investigating the events that led to their mentor’s demise, the heroes become embroiled in an ancient conflict between two secret organizations fighting for control of Gotham. The Court of Owls and the League of Shadows.

From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history. To defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations. Don’t miss out on the game.

Gotham Nights is available for purchase here at IndieGala. And so is the Deluxe Version of the game. Get it here.

Gotham Knights On Film And TV

Yup. In this particular article, we’re gonna focus on the cinematic depictions of the characters in Gotham Knights. Both on TV and the silver screen. We all know that Batman was one hell of a movie (you’ll know that if you’ve our review). But what about the past and future (upcoming) projects about the rest of the characters. Now there are only 4 principal characters in Gotham Knights. Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood. And they’re over 20 in the Bat-family. We can’t possibly cover them all, as this article will be miles long. But we can focus on the big ones that are bound to leave a mark in the future of WB.

The Batman 2

Yes, we know. Batman is dead in Gotham Knights. But hey. There’s gonna be a new Batman movie in 2025 (a sequel movie if you will) and we think it’s worth mentioning. That’s according to some reports from Tinseltown. Development on The Batman 2 has been underway ever since the first movie became such a success. Furthermore, the director Matt Reeves is now writing the sequel alongside Mattson Tomlin. It has also been confirmed that Robert Pattinson will reprise the role of Batman. But wait. Reeves is reportedly developing a The Batman shared universe filled with more villain spinoff movies and shows. You know, to go along with the Penguin and Arkham Asylum shows already in development. And yeah. The sequel would need to begin filming in 2023/2024 to meet such a timeline. That would give Reeves another year or so to finish the script and all other phases of pre-production. Good luck Matt.

Batgirl

Oh, Batgirl. This movie will probably never see the light of day, and it’s a crying shame. Since WB spent so much money on it. Around 90 million dollars worth of money. But the movie is still unreleased. Yes. The studio is no longer planning to release it due to the company’s cost-cutting measures and a refocus on theatrical releases. Leslie Grace portrays the titular role. That of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.

J.K. Simmons portrays James Gordon- Barbara’s father in this movie. But Brendan Fraser is in it too, and that’s why the cancelation of this movie hurts so bad. Who doesn’t love Brendan Fraser? Well, he portrays Ted Carson / Firefly and yes. The OG Batman is in it too. Michael Keaton was gonna reprise his role of Bruce Wayne in this movie too. Warner Bros. did however set up some secret screenings of the unfinished film on its lot. The event was exclusive to the cast and crew who had worked on the film, along with their representatives and company executives.

Nightwing

While there are no future attempts to revive Nightwing for the silver screen yet, Brenton Thwaites did Nightwing some decent justice in awesome TV series- The Titans. A member of the original team, he re-formed the Titans while assuming the new identity of Nightwing. Michael Cera on the other hand, was the decent voice of Dick Grayson in The Lego Movie. You know… The awesome animated movie that we love so much. And did you remember that back in In Suicide Squad, it is revealed Harley Quinn was an accomplice to Robin’s murder. So, there’s that. No future plans for a Nightwing solo movie I’m afraid.

Cassandra Cain

There’s not a solo movie about Cassandra Cain, but if you recall, she did appear in Birds of Prey as a supporting character. Her entire comic background was removed entirely for the movie and over there, she was a twelve-year-old pickpocket. However, Cassandra became Harley’s partner and apprentice after that.

Selina Kyle

Yay. Catwoman is next. We got to see her in Batman, and Zoe Kravitz was very good in that role. However, Catwoman is set to appear in Gotham City Sirens. Along with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy of course, but the film’s production has stopped for the moment. And here’s the thing. Following the release of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021), it is unknown if Gotham City Sirens will be a spin-off of David Ayer’s movie. Or of Gunn’s film. Time will tell we suppose.

Tim Drake

Tim Drake made his live-action debut in the third season of Titans. And the character is portrayed by Jay Lycurgo too. He’s a young Gotham City resident in the series, who works as a delivery boy and idolizes Batman. Tim also appears in one of the alternate storylines of the interactive film Batman: Death in the Family, but there’s no news about a potential solo movie/TV show about the character. Sadly.

And last but not least… Gotham Knights the TV show

Ah yes. The upcoming American superhero television series was created by James Stoteraux, Natalie Abrams, and Chad Fiveash for The CW network. A TV show that is having a 2023 premiere and a TV show that is an adaptation of the iconic DC comics. And in it, Bruce Wayne is murdered and his adopted son allies with the children of Batman’s enemies. As the city becomes more dangerous, these mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors. Better known as the Gotham Knights. Oscar Morgan portrays Turner Hayes, but the one and only Micha Collins is the iconic role of Harvey Dent. How cool is that?

So cool. Well, all of this leads us to ask.
