Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is the latest installment of the Ubisoft franchise. I’ve already talked about my passion for these games, in particular describing Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

That’s why I want to give you my review of this videogame. In short, is it worth trying it or not? As a fan of the franchise, some things delighted me, but on others, well, I can’t say I’m satisfied. You have to keep following me to the discovery of the Ghost Recon: Breakpoint review and you’ll find out everything you need to know about it.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint an interesting story

A ghost team

First of all, I want to remind you that the Ghost Recon series was originally born from the pen of the late Tom Clancy. The late American writer gave birth to this team of advanced espionage and Ubisoft has turned the characters into heroes of modern videogames. A similar thing happened with Rainbow Six Siege.

For this reason, you can understand the importance of the plot for this game. You will find yourself on the archipelago of Auroa, a natural and hostile environment. Compared to the other chapters of the series, you will find yourself completely abandoned by the outside world. Your group of “ghosts” will only have to rely on team spirit to survive and complete the main mission.

Yeah, but what’s the mission this time? Well, you’re gonna have to stop the Wolves, a group of mercenaries led by Cole Walker. The latter is a former Ghost Recon and he will know all the tricks of your team. I don’t want to tell you any more about the plot and the motives behind Cole going after your group. I want you to find out for yourself, immerse yourself in a unique adventure.

Just know that there will be twists and turns and as always, you won’t know who to trust. Exactly, because once again Ghost Recon mixes ethics and politics. Is it more important to do the right thing for the nation or the individual? A good question that you will have in mind for the duration of the gameplay.

Even more wildland gameplay?

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Gameplay

Ghost Recon: Wildlands first introduced the open-world concept to the series. Breakpoint takes up this element and expands some aspects. Of course, not everything is as fabulous and magical as it seemed from the first trailers, but I want to proceed step by step.

First of all, I enjoyed the survival elements of the game. That’s right, this time every member of your team will have to be “cured”. You will need to pay attention to factors such as hunger, rest, and fitness. Keeping these features under control will not be too difficult, but this strongly affects the gameplay and I liked how the developers decided to focus on this innovation.

Another thing I appreciated was the customization of the experience offered to the player. Ghost Recon has always been synonymous with stealth, just like Metal Gear Solid Saga. However, if you decide to select the Arcade difficulty, you can customize your experience. What does that mean? Well, you can drop the stealth and aim for endless shootings. In short, Ghost Recon becomes a shooter: I never imagined it, but hey, it’s 2020 everything is possible!

Regardless, if you are a hardcore fan of the stealth genre, then you have to try the game at maximum difficulty. In that case, you’ll have to plan your every assault perfectly. You can coordinate the action with your teammates, but you will have a few rations and tools at your disposal. Well, believe me, it will not be easy at all, but you will feel incredible satisfaction completing the game in this mode.

A small downside

There is one thing I did not like though. The game world is wide and full of details. However, these are not different from each other. Secondary missions, collectibles and the like are all too much the same. Once again, Ubisoft does not understand that quantity does not mean quality. Overall, this does not spoil the gaming experience, but it might bore those like me who want to complete the game 100%.

The importance of Multiplayer

Ghost Recon has always been a series that focused on Single-Player campaigns. However, I recommend you try Breakpoint in multiplayer mode. Believe me, playing this title with your friends will be extremely fun.

You can become a virtual “ghost” and coordinate every operation at best, maybe with a voice chat with your friends. In particular, I suggest you try the PvP mode called Ghost War. In this case, your team will face another team of four players online.

Personally, this mode left me speechless because it allows you to face the game differently. When you play in single-player, the enemy AI is not perfect. Here you will have to face smart and competitive players: well, death is just around the corner!

Finally, the PvP win will provide experience and skill points for your character that you can use to customize your class and increase its power.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, a game for every need

Ultimately, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a game suitable for a wide range of players. Those who love stealth and the series can enjoy this chapter in the best way. However, even those who have never played a Ghost Recon title can try this videogame, perhaps choosing a TPS approach.

If you tried Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, what do you think? I would like to know your opinion about this game, maybe you can explain to users of the Indiegala community why they should try it. Alternatively, buy now this title, you can find it on sale in our store.
