Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Happy 10th anniversary to Human Revolution and 5th anniversary to Mankind Divided! Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, honestly, I love this game. It immersed me and I think I spent more than 50 hours of gameplay to try it out. The gameplay, the plot, the characters: I liked everything from the first moment.

Since Cyberpunk 2077 has disappointed several of my expectations, I still consider this my favorite cyberpunk game.

Deus Ex: MD was released in 2016, five years ago! Since then, there has been no news about a possible sequel. But what is this game about? Is it worth trying? Here’s everything you need to know about it!

Deus Ex: a historic franchise for PC gamers

Deus Ex Franchise

In recent times, the games in the Deus Ex series have been labeled as console games. Well, it is not so. The Deus Ex saga was born on PC with the first title of the same name that debuted in 2000 on Microsoft Windows.

It was a fabulous game, which anticipated the open-world titles. Deus Ex transports the player into a futuristic world, dominated by corporations and cyborgs. As a protagonist with special powers, the player must avoid world destruction and stop enemies and their evil plans.

The game was critically acclaimed and several fans loved it. Then for years, nothing. There was a sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War in 2003, but it didn’t get the expected results. Then in 2011, there was the breakthrough.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution revived the saga, awakening fans and conquering new gamers. One of the strengths of this game is the protagonist, Adam Jensen, a half-human and half-robot (an augmented human) who finds himself at the center of a conspiracy. Besides, the title focuses more on action and shootings, but there are still plenty of stealth actions. Also, this chapter is a prequel to the first Deus Ex. It is set years before the events of the original game.

Then there is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This was the story of the saga. As you can see, there have been “stops” between one chapter and another, but sooner or later, this franchise is back in the limelight. I hope that the same will happen soon and by analyzing the characteristics of Mankind Divided, you will understand why.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, between cyberpunk and espionage

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided plot

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided continues to tell the story of Adam Jensen. This character will find himself exploring Prague, a city now divided between cyborgs and men. Jensen’s purpose will be to find information about a group of terrorists who carry out attacks in different parts of the world. Little by little, Adam will discover that behind these deviant minds lies a world organization that wants to dominate the globe. Can you stop the conspiracy?

The plot of Mankind Divided is not trivial. Some twists will make you jump from the chair. Believe me, you’ll find yourself involved in the game world and want to find out more and more. Some information will be revealed to you and just as you are close to the final revelation BAM! The game will end. Trust me, it’s cruel.

This is one of the reasons why you need to have a sequel to the game. The story stops on the most beautiful. Defeating the final boss will almost feel like the beginning of a new story. Fans want to know, so please, Eidos Montreal, finish telling the story of Adam Jensen’s adventure!

Gameplay: stealth or action, you choose

Deus Ex Gameplay

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is an action RPG. You can customize your character, choosing which gameplay to adopt.

You can bet on brute force, maximizing your arsenal. In that case, you will become a deadly cyber-killer. The customization gets deeper because you can decide whether to develop your skills in strength or whether improve the attacks at a distance. Exactly what you can do in Cyberpunk 2077. However, there are no bugs here, so you can meet your cybernetic death needs.

Alternatively, DX: Mankind Divided allows the player to play stealth. In this case, you can upgrade your abilities to be invisible and hack enemies. In short, anyone can decide how to play this title, the experience will always be enjoyable!

A free and unpredictable sandbox

Sandbox e game world

Mankind Divided is not an open-world game. The game areas will have visible limits. However, the playable areas will be large, but above all rich in activities. In addition to the main missions, there will be several secondary quests.

To complete some of them you will have to be curious. That’s right, you’ll have to explore the game area in every detail to conclude the adventure 100%. Sometimes you can even skip certain stages of the quest. For example, you can kill almost all characters. So, as in Dark Souls, sometimes less logical actions will lead to surprising conclusions.

In addition to secondary quests, there are also small tasks that NPCs can assign you. These are small missions that you can complete in a few minutes. Choose carefully which ones to do, not all of them bring bonuses and some of them could get you killed.

Finally, I want to give you some advice. If you should try this title, remember that some areas are reachable only thanks to certain upgrades. So, choose wisely which skill to improve. Don’t just think about fighting or you’ll miss out on much of the game!

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, waiting for the sequel, we satisfy our desire for Cyberpunk

Ultimately, Deus Ex is a compelling game from the point of view of plot and gameplay. The story leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but according to some news, a sequel to the game will be on the market soon. Eidos has not released official information, so there is no certainty about it.

What if you want to try a game similar to the cyberpunk theme? Here are some tips that I want to give you to satisfy your desire. The first game you can try is Ghostrunner. This title is compelling and has exciting gameplay. You can also read my review about it.

Conglomerate 451 is another exciting title, with decidedly cyberpunk atmospheres. You can add it to your wishlist or buy it in our store at an incredibly advantageous price.

I also recommend Transient. This game mixes horror and a dystopian future. If you want to get scared and have shivers down your back this is the ideal game.
