Deathloop is a brand new game even for me. But don’t get me wrong. I love brand new games to write about. They’re awesome and offer new and exciting topics. Most notably topics I’ve probably not touched before and I’m all about that. Topics like HP Lovecraft for instance (check it out here). And topics like the rise and fall of Data East as another great example (here). Well, time loops are the main topic of my Deathloop article. And I can’t tell you how excited I’m about that. However, before I get to the movie section of this article, I feel that I need to present the game itself. So yeah. Let’s go ahead and do exactly that.
Deathloop: The Cool Facts About The Game
Developed by Arkane Lyon Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, Deathloop is an upcoming action-adventure first-person shooter game. And Deathloop has you in the role of Colt. An assassin who is stuck in a time loop, waking up on a beach at the island of Blackreef.
You’re also doomed to repeat the same day for eternity. However, the only chance for escape is to break the loop by unearthing information. And of course, assassinating eight key targets before the day resets. But beware! Lurking in the shadows is a rival assassin, Julianna! She’s equipped with her own equally powerful abilities and weapons. And she’s on a mission to protect the loop by assassinating Colt. Restarting the cycle as well. So, players can also choose to take control of Julianna, turning DEATHLOOP into a deadly game of hunter-vs-hunted.
Every new loop is an opportunity to change things up. Use the knowledge you gain from each attempt to change up your play style. Stealthily sneaking through levels or barreling into the fight, guns-blazing. Can you do it?
Deathloop is also available for purchase here at IndieGala. Check it out and make your purchase now. The sale that we have on the game is ending soon. Hurry up and get it while it’s still hot. Oh and for those of you who are not sold on Deathloop, don’t despair. We have plenty of other Bethesda games to check out. Games from the Elder Scrolls series (available here), and games from the Fallout series. Available here.
And Which Movies Go Well With Deathloop?
Carefully selected movies with time-loops in the plot of course. There are several of those in this list and they’re all good. Some of them are older, but some of them are quite new. However, we guarantee that you’re going to like all of them. Why? Because of the diversity in them. While the Deathloop game is action-packed, there’s a variety of genres in the movie section of the article. Rom-coms, thrillers and even science fiction movies. Which ones made the cut? Scroll down to find out. But which ones are your favorites? Let us know bellow. We’d love to know all about them.
Frankly, this was a pleasant surprise of a movie. A directorial debut movie of Max Barbakow and a romantic comedy that came out at a perfect time. During the horrifying year of 2020. Cristin Milloti and Andy Samberg are the main stars in Pam Springs. They’re actually Nyles and Sarah in this movie. Two complete strangers will get trapped in a time loop after they attend the same wedding in Palm Springs. Hence the title of the movie. With a smart script and great acting, Palm Springs is a fantastic movie that demands your attention. And if I do say so myself, probably one of the best movies of 2020. So yeah. It’s worth the watch.
Fun fact: J.K. Simmons previously played Andy Samberg’s father in I Love You, Man (2009).
Boss Level is over a top and yet perfectly watchable movie. With a fantastic list of actors in it. However, it has Frank Grillo in the role of Roy Pulver. A retired special forces soldier is stuck in a time loop that ultimately results in his death. From start to finish of the time loop he must avoid plenty of assassins but that’s not an easy task, even for a seasoned pro like him. And aside from Grillo, Mel Gibson and Naomi Watts provide a decent backup in the acting department. It’s actually a good movie that deserves your attention.
Fun fact: May 9, the day Roy is forced to repeat, is director Joe Carnahan’s birthday.
Happy Death Day
Another pleasant surprise from the 2020 quarantines. I discovered Happy Death Day by accident, but I’m so glad I did. It’s one hell of a movie that I continue to recommend to this day. And yes. It’s a horror/slasher movie but oh so fun. Let me explain. Happy Death Day is all about Theresa “Tree” Gelbman (Jessica Rothe). A college student will get killed on her birthday, but will eventually wake up to relive the day over and over again. Well, until she finds the killer. Happy Death Day is an exciting and thrilling slasher that also got a sequel, but I will forever recommend the original. It’s a must-watch if you love movies with time loops and also movies that are on the horror side of the genre.
Fun fact: After Prom Night (2008) and The Final Girls (2015), this is the third slasher film ever to receive a PG-13 rating.
One of the best movies on this list. And probably the oldest movie here. Which is weird because Source Code was released in 2011. But yeah. This is Duncan Jones’s second movie as a director. And a follow-up to the highly acclaimed Moon. However, Source Code has Jake Gyllenhaal in the middle of the story. He’s U.S. Army pilot Captain Colter Stevens in this movie. A captain sent into an eight-minute digital recreation of a real-life train explosion. He’s also tasked with figuring out the identity of the terrorist who bombed it, but that will turn out to be a lot harder task than anticipated. Michelle Monaghan and Vera Fermiga are awesome as well. And the close confined space of a train makes the film even that much more exciting. It’s a must-watch if you’re a fan of the actor. Or a fan of Duncan Jones really.
Fun fact: The caller ID photo of Christina’s ex Bryan is actually director Duncan Jones.
Predestination is a true gem for every Science fiction fan. It will twist your brain in a good way and it will leave you wanting more. However, in its essence Predestination is about the top temporal agent on a final assignment (the talented Ethan Hawke). He must travel in time to pursue the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time. It’s a game of cat and mouse through time, but that’s what’s fun about it. It’s also intriguing what he’ll find out along the way. If you’re a fan of time travel movies and of course of movies with time loops… Then Predestination is the perfect pick for you.
Fun fact: The movie is based on Robert A. Heinlein’s short story “All You Zombies”.
