You will not have checkpoints where you can save, every death will be permanent. Besides, the difficulty will increase more and more, frustration will come to unimaginable levels. You will only be able to equip two weapons and unlock different skills. Coming to the end of the game, if you succeed, you will be satisfied with your build perfected in every detail.
Compared to classic Metroidvania games, here you’ll have to use your imagination to move on. For example, in the early stages of the game, you can defeat enemies using only melee weapons. However, as you advance you will need to develop a real attack strategy, using skills, bombs, remote weapons, spells, and much more.

Dead Cells: don’t just fight, explore with curiosity
Another thing that makes Dead Cells unique is exploration. In similar games, like Ori and the Blind Forest, exploration leads you to get better upgrades or weapons.
But on the contrary in this title, you will find some interesting side quests that you can complete. If you succeed in this, you can unlock alternative routes that will allow you to change the end of the story. I don’t want to spoil you but believe me, it’s worth replaying this game to find out all the endings. Through these gameplay mechanics, Dead Cells manages to be long-lived and pleasant despite its high level of difficulty.
Besides, there is no lack of secret areas, difficult to reach but incredibly profitable. The bonuses you can get in these hidden areas are exceptional, I suggest you explore them or at least try to do so!
