But What Can You Find In The Holy Moly Bundle?

Lots of great games, that’s for sure. Every one of these five games is incredible and worth checking out. But for the purpose of this article, not only am I going to introduce every single one of the 5 games in the bundle.

I’m also going to suggest a similar movie, TV show, or a previous article that I’ve written to go along with the game in question. Of course, not every game is going to be exactly the same as our suggestion. And creative licenses are needed (and welcomed) here. So, regardless if it’s a small part of the plot, an interesting character, or even the same name. If it sounds familiar with the game, I’m going to put it in here. But we’d also love to know your picks for each of the 5 games. Which movies, TV shows, books, or even comic books would go well here? Let us know in the comment section.

Let’s begin, shall we?

1. Lost Castle / 失落城堡

Developed by Hunter Studio, Lost Castle is a fun yet super hard action RPG with rogue-like elements and randomized dungeons. There are plenty of exciting and hand-drawn characters and fun retro action. Not to mention Treasure Hunters. Indeed, they have dug too deep beneath Castle Harwood and into the places best left forgotten. So now, the old things awaken and others come to seek the forbidden powers unearthed by endless greed! And yes. The Old Ones Awaken adds new levels to explore. New enemies to defeat, and new bosses to face along with a host of exciting new weapons. Don’t miss out on Lost Castle!

Our Pick: Dragonheart

Much like Lost Castle, Dragonheart has knights, treasure hunters, kings, dragons and castles. Not to mention lots of quirky characters and plenty of humor. Oh and a fantastic cast too. Dennis Quaid is in the lead role, but Sir Sean Connery is in the role of Draco. The last remaining dragon that is. But the thing is the list doesn’t stop there. David Thewlis is in it too, and so are Julie Christie, Pete Postlethwaite and Jason Isaac. Dragonheart is a fun and lighthearted movie that I think belongs on this list. What do you think?

2. AER Memories of Old

Fly and explore by transforming into a bird at will. Seriously, this incredible game allows you to do that, and explore the world filled with floating islands. So, go ahead. Venture down into lost ancient ruins where each step leads you closer to the end of the world. This is a fantastic indie game with great visuals and simple flight mechanics. Not to mention soothing and gentle music that will make the experience even better.

Our Pick: LadyHawke

Another underrated gem, but this time from the mid-’90s. Oh, how I love LadyHawke. Seriously, it’s one of the best medieval dark fantasy movies out there. And the cast is incredible too. The late Rutger Hauer is in it, and so is Matthew Broderick. But the LadyHawke from the title is Michelle Pfeiffer. She’s Isabeau of Anjou here, and she’s stunning. Not to mention she plays a cursed woman in LadyHawke. A curse turns Isabeau into a hawk by day. And Navarre (Hauger) into a wolf by night. So, despite being always together, they are actually eternally apart. I highly recommend this movie.

3. Tales of the Neon Sea

Tales of the Neon Sea is a retro-style pixel-art adventure, set in a fully realized cyberpunk cityscape. And over there you will encounter numerous items to investigate, curious easter eggs. Not to mention a whole cast of interactive NPCs. So, you must analyze every detail, and discover the truth that lurks behind the heavy mist… And of course, you’re Rex in Tales of the Neon Sea. A veteran cop turned hard-boiled detective. Now, you must investigate crime in the future cyberpunk world. And of course, solve a strange murder case involving clues from a robot rebellion…

But aside from the cyberpunk theme, and the investigation in the middle of it… The game is bursting with detailed retro-style pixel-art. Which, let’s be honest makes it even more appealing.

But…

Our Pick is: Disjunction: The History & Influence Of Cyberpunk

Another great Cyberpunk game, and a cool (if I do say so myself) article. Disjunction: The History & Influence Of Cyberpunk has a different focus. Rather than going with our usual list of cyberpunk movies, I thought it would be a good idea to explore the lore, history and influence of the sub-genre. Yes, this is a shameless throwback to one of my articles, but IMHO a rather fitting one. Check it out here.

4. Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?!

Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! is a whacky space exploration game in which you manage your very own spaceship. Not to mention you craft hundreds of weapons, and explore the vastness of a veggie-filled universe. But in it, you play as sisters Cassie and Fay. As they scour dozens of planets in a dynamic universe for their beloved grandfather, Jiji! So, follow them on their quest and experience an engagement. And an ever-changing storyline with a diverse cast of lovable, anthropomorphic vegetables! Don’t miss it!

Our Pick: The Martian

Ridley Scott’s masterpiece, don’t you think? While not my favorite Ridley Scott movie, I could easily put The Martian in my top 5 all-time favorite movies. Along with Blade Runner, Alien, Thelma And Louise and White Squall. But the Martian is about The Martian. AKA, Matt Damon’s Mark Watney character. He’ll get stuck on Mars and we’ll get to witness not only his survival there. But the fight to get him home to Earth as well. The Martian has a fantastic list of A-List actors, potatoes and is one hell of a movie.

5. Space Rangers HD: A War Apart

The last game in our Holy Moly Bundle, but certainly not the least. Space Rangers HD: A War Apart remasters and expands the world of the cult classic Space Rangers 2. Furthermore, the game is developed by the SNK-Games team in close cooperation with fans of the series. Cool right? We thought so too.

So, the biggest of the improved features is a new scenario dedicated to the pirates threatening the galaxy. While the Coalition spends all of its resources to fight the Dominators (sentient machines who seek to eradicate all life), the pirates have united under the banner of a mysterious leader. And under this new master, they have begun their own guerrilla war to seize power in the weakened Galaxy. If you enjoyed playing it as a child, you might wanna give it a shot now. Who knows, you might actually like it.

Our pick: Space Rangers

Let’s end this article with a TV series pick. Because why not? It has the same title and it’s set in space. Not to mention the TV series has one hell of an eclectic cast. Jeff Kaake, Jack McGee, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and my personal favorite. The Oscar winner Linda Hunt in the role of Commander Chennault. Space Rangers was short-lived TV series about a police force on Planet Avalon’s Fort Hope. But while I’m on the subject of presenting underrated gems, why not present one from the 90’s TV vault? If you haven’t’ had the chance to check it out, do it. Who knows you might get a kick out of it.
