It’s the seventh game in the Anno series and takes place during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century. But at the same time, the Anno 1800 game is a great city-building, real-time strategy video game. Developed and published by Ubisoft of course, and it recently just released its Year 3 Complete Edition, feel free to check it out.
And if you’ve played other city-building games (for instance Cities: Skylines) then you’ll love the Anno 1800 game. Of course, the setting is truly show-stopping here, and the 19th-century timeline is immersive as well. There are three ways to play, Campaign, Sandbox, and Multiplayer. Honestly, you’ll be dealing with the main 2 problems in all of them. The population growth and the demand for that population growth. And in between, there are the small details that you need to be wary of. Details that evolve as the city evolves. Such as the things that you need to think about, that nobody will tell you at the start. For instance, if the soil is good for growing a specific type of grain.
The Anno 1800 Game: A Great Sandbox Experience
But really the star of the game is the sandbox mode. In fact the most important part of the game is the sandbox mode. And yes it’s definitely the best of the series. Although a huge portion of the game pays a big focus on exploration, the strategy is ingrained in that exploration too. But the gameplay is actually simple, especially if you played some of the earliest games in the series. It starts out like most city builders and slowly develops the complexity as you learn the game. Which is nice for those of you who’re already familiar with the series, and for those of you who are not.
The Anno 1800 game is a flawed game, but ultimately engrossing and yes entertaining.
