Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is a game I loved. Of course, I’m not very objective about the game, since I’m a big fan of the TV series. And I’m also a fan of pirate-themed videogames, but maybe you could have guessed that from my Ultimate List of Assassin’s Creed.

Regardless, I will try to be as honest as possible in this review. I want to show you the strengths of the game, but also those you can consider as flaws. Here’s what you need to know about Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion.

A crazy world to explore

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion has a world to explore

One thing I’ve always liked about Adventure Time is its universe. I find it incredibly imaginative, crazy, and fun at the same time. Well, this videogame faithfully reproduces this aspect in the form of the open-world. You can explore almost any area of Ooo, the game world. That’s why I loved it!

Also, the premise of the game proposes a story that breaks away from the classic storyline of the series. A huge flood has divided the Land of Ooo and now it will be up to you to visit the different lands that have formed.

Aboard a boat, like a real pirate, you’ll have to lead Finn and Jake on an epic journey, solving the conflicts you’ll find in your path. Moreover, each situation will be accompanied by humor and even a little cynicism, in full Adventure Time style. Believe me, if you’ve played games like The Outer Worlds and want to continue in the same vein, then you have to try this game.

Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion, characters for every taste

Every character has a particular behavior

Another thing I love about Adventure Time is the variety of characters. In addition to the two protagonists, many make up the universe of the series and the game. On your way, you will meet Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, the Ice King, and many more.

Each character will have a well-defined behavior that respects his role within the series. You will find yourself talking to complex characters, with a contrasting nature at times, but that will break into your heart.

Besides, some characters will join your crew and you can implement your team from time to time. In short, you will become the captain of a gang of crazy freaks, but all ready to do the good things. What can I say, it’s Adventure Time!

Classic RPG gameplay

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and a RPG gameplay

What about the gameplay of Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion? Well, the thing that surprised me is that it’s based on the great RPG masterpieces of the past. As mentioned before, there is a wide slice of gameplay that includes exploration of the map and possible interaction with the different NPCs.

Besides, there are also several stages of action and combat. However, you will not witness a fluid and free combat, but you will be catapulted into a kind of virtual arena. Here you will have to decide which moves to make.

Of course, the various characters can make different attacks. You’ll have to be good at combining character effects and creating effective attacks. The gameplay reminds me a lot of games like Final Fantasy, Indivisible, or Tales of Vesperia. For this reason, I invite you to try Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion even if you’ve never seen an episode of the series.

You will delight yourself with well-balanced gameplay. You will also appreciate the challenge level of the game. Do not be fooled by the graphics, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is not for children and you will notice it after you have tried it.

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and the vibrant graphics

Vibrant graphics of the game

I just mentioned the graphics of the game and I want to expand this point further. The world of Adventure Time is colorful, lively, strange, and even hectic at times. The game manages to restore this atmosphere, thanks to animations cared for to the maximum.

I want to compliment Climax Studios, the game’s developers, who I think did a great job. Certainly for some the graphics may seem dated, suitable for PS2 games. If you don’t know Adventure Time you may think like that, but believe me, I don’t think you could do a better work to revive the spirit of the series.

Besides, this seemingly peaceful graphics will always make you doubt who is good and who hides an evil soul. I appreciate this aspect, which leads you to pay more attention during the adventure. In short, if you loved the fairytale graphics of Ori and The Blind Forest, I’m sure you’ll also appreciate this game.

Sail with the crew for an unforgettable trip

I admit although I loved it, Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion is not a perfect game. Some might find it uninteresting. However, if you think that the game will suit you based on what you read, I suggest you give it a chance.

Its price in our store is minimal, so I suggest you think about it. Alternatively, if you have already tried the videogame, let me know what you think with a comment.

It’s time to (ad)venture into a sea of emotions!
